Summary

An upper-midrange 6.83-inch phone built around a Leica-branded 5x periscope telephoto, a 7,000 mAh silicon-carbon battery with 100 W wired charging, and MediaTek’s Dimensity 9500 chipset. Check the warranty path before you buy: Xiaomi does not officially sell phones in the United States, so US listings are import channels.

Strengths

  • Battery is the standout: GSMArena measured 21 h 41 min of active use.
  • A genuinely useful 5x periscope telephoto (50 MP, 115 mm) with usable 10x in-sensor zoom.
  • 100 W wired and 50 W wireless charging, plus 22.5 W reverse wired.
  • Dimensity 9500 performance sits with last year’s flagships.
  • Bright 6.83-inch AMOLED with Dolby Vision and an IP68 build.

Weaknesses

  • Charges slower than the 15T Pro it replaces despite the higher wattage (44 min vs 36 min to full).
  • Runs warm under sustained load; one store review reports quick heating on light use.
  • The 144 Hz refresh rate is almost never utilized in system apps and menus.
  • The 12 MP ultrawide and 32 MP selfie are the weak points of the camera system.
  • No US manufacturer warranty; import sellers set their own terms, one at 30 days.
  • Speakers are loud but criticized for flat sound and sharp highs at volume.

Battery and charging

The trade-off is charging speed. GSMArena measured the 17T Pro charging slower than its 15T Pro predecessor across the 15 and 30-minute marks and overall (44 min to full versus 36 min), which it attributes to the switch to silicon-carbon chemistry. Xiaomi claims 48 min to 100% wired and 42 min to 50% wirelessly; the measured 44 min to full is consistent with the wired claim. The 100 W figure is a ceiling: GSMArena saw a brief ~83 W peak with the HyperCharge brick settling to 40-60 W, and a compatible PD/PPS brick peaked near 75 W and held 30-50 W. Software battery care includes an 80% charge limit, a smart-charging learning mode and the option to disable the fastest charging mode.

Cameras and display

The main camera is a 50 MP OmniVision Light Fusion 950 (1/1.31", f/1.67) and the 5x periscope is a 50 MP unit at 115 mm with OIS and a 30 cm minimum focus. The 12 MP ultrawide and 32 MP selfie are the weak points, and Leica color divides opinion: some like the saturated output, while Android Police found it less refined than the Xiaomi 17 Ultra. The 6.83-inch 1.5K AMOLED is rated at 3,500 nits peak, but that is a small-area figure. GSMArena measured 603 nits manual and 1,069 nits auto on a 75% white pattern and 3,498 nits on a 10% white patch; PhoneArena measured 3,430 nits at 20% APL. GSMArena could not trigger 144 Hz in system apps or Chrome, so the panel spends most time at 60 Hz.

Software and updates

The phone shipped on Android 16 with HyperOS 3 and is included in the second global beta batch for HyperOS 4 (Android 17). A July 2026 security patch rolled out on 2026-07-19, and Xiaomi lists 5 years of major OS updates. The China stable rollout that began on 2026-10-15 excludes the 17T and 17T Pro from the first wave, and no global stable schedule has been announced. Owner feedback on HyperOS is mixed, including launcher and customization complaints; the clearest of those come from a returned vanilla 17T rather than the Pro, so treat them as a generation-level signal.

Is it worth it?

US availability runs through importers. At observed import pricing of roughly $699-777 for the 256 and 512 GB tiers, it is a strong bundle: flagship-class performance, a real telephoto, a top-tier battery result and 100/50 W charging. Swiftronics USA lists the global 2602EPTC0G at $699.99 sale with a 30-day seller warranty, and Giztop lists it starting at $699. Toward $900 the case gets contested, and above that the missing US warranty and the weaker ultrawide and selfie are harder to justify. GSMArena’s verdict, written at a €900 European launch price, was to wait for the price to settle.

Which model this is

This page covers the upper model of the 17T series, sold in Deep Blue, Deep Violet and Black. It is not the smaller vanilla 17T (6.59-inch 120 Hz display, Dimensity 8500-Ultra, 6,500 mAh, 67 W, no wireless charging), the flagship 17/17 Pro/17 Ultra line with Qualcomm chips and secondary screens, or the older 15T/15T Pro generation. The Amazon listing for this model carries ASIN B0GS67L6Y6.
