Xiaomi 13T Pro: problems, parts and running costs
Checked: 2026-10-16
Summary
The biggest problem is not hardware: the phone was never sold in the US, so an import carries no official warranty and no carrier certification, with no mmWave 5G and only partial US band overlap. Hardware complaints center on the weak 20MP selfie camera, average battery life for a 5000mAh phone and MIUI/HyperOS bloat. It is a defensible hardware buy as an import around $385-440 and a poor one above $600, where phones with US warranties take over.
Common problems and fixes
- No US warranty or service — Xiaomi does not sell smartphones in the US, and its international warranty service covers only listed Asian and European markets; marketplace imports carry only the seller’s return policy, and a worn battery means third-party repair. [3][9][10]
- No mmWave 5G and partial US band overlap — the published band list covers core AT&T and T-Mobile 4G bands and mid-band 5G such as n41, n66 and n77, but there is no mmWave, and Kimovil warns carriers may refuse uncertified devices and coverage will be partial; check your carrier’s band list before ordering. [4][15]
- Weak 20MP selfie camera — WIRED found over half of low-light selfies unusable, and GSMArena called the selfie camera the one dated legacy feature. [5][9]
- The 19-minute charge claim needs Boost mode — 120W is reached only with the screen off; with the screen on, charging is limited to 60-80W, and lab protocols measured about 38-39 minutes to full. [6][12]
Parts and consumables
- No replaceable parts or consumables reported: the battery is not user-serviceable, there is no card slot, and repairs require third-party shops; the bundled 120W GaN charger removes the common extra cost of buying one. [3][6]
Yearly running cost
Not enough data. [3][6][9]
When it is a good buy
- Import prices (October 2026): from $385 at US import stores per Kimovil, about £299 for the 512GB model per GSMArena’s retailer aggregator, and €388.51 / $599.99 / £439.99 indexed by phonespecs.net — verify the exact Global model before buying. [4][15]
- $400 or less — strong hardware value: display, charging speed, Leica camera and IP68 punch well above the price, and the import caveats are acceptable at this level.
- $401-500 — fair; still capable in 2026 with HyperOS 3 on Android 16 support ongoing, but compare against US-warranty alternatives (Pixel, Samsung A-series, Motorola) that have certified band support and local service.
- $501-650 — weak: near-$600 import prices buy zero carrier certification and zero official warranty.
