XGIMI Halo+: problems, parts and running costs
Checked: 2026-10-19
Summary
Owners and reviewers most often report brightness that measures well below the 900-lumen claim and battery runtime closer to 90 minutes than the advertised 2.5 hours. Running costs are small: the LED light source is rated at 25,000 hours, there is no lamp to replace, and electricity is about $17 a year at 8 hours a day, 200 days a year and 14 cents/kWh. It is a good buy around $449 and weak above $600.
Common problems and fixes
- No Netflix on the Android TV revision — PCMag, ProjectorCentral and CNET list it as a con. Plug a streaming stick into the HDMI port or buy the Halo+ (New). [1][2][4][8]
- Battery runtime shorter than advertised — ProjectorCentral measured 1 hour 31 minutes and RTINGS says just over 90 minutes. Expect about 90 minutes, with lower brightness on battery. [2][5]
- Keystone correction costs brightness — ProjectorCentral measured a 48% loss at a 10-degree tilt. Position the unit instead of correcting the image. [2]
- Slow cold start and awkward power-off — 46.2 seconds from full power-down and a two-press power-off that CNET calls counterintuitive. Leave it in Hibernate between sessions. [2][4]
- No optical zoom or lens shift — image size changes only by moving the projector: 60 inches at 5.2 ft and 100 inches at 8.7 ft. Plan the throw distance. [2]
- Gaming latency is high — PCMag measured 28.3 ms in Game mode and RTINGS says it is too high for serious gaming. Game Mode Boost lowers latency but disables keystone correction. [1][2][5]
Parts and consumables
- LED light source — rated 25,000 hours by XGIMI; ProjectorCentral says the light engine will never need replacing. No replacement interval. [2][6]
- Carrying case — about $89, sold separately by XGIMI. [1]
- X-Desktop Stand Pro — about $100 for a ceiling mount or stand accessory. [2]
- Puffin TV web browser — about $1/month or $10/year if you want in-projector browsing; no browser is preinstalled. [2]
Yearly running cost
Electricity is about $17 a year at 8 hours a day, 200 days a year and 14 cents/kWh (ProjectorCentral). There is no lamp to replace. Optional extras: a carrying case at about $89, the X-Desktop Stand Pro at about $100, and a Puffin TV web browser at about $1/month or $10/year.
When it is a good buy
At roughly $449 from XGIMI’s own US store (against an $849.99 reference, 2026), it is a defensible buy for cordless 1080p with auto setup and strong onboard sound. Between $450 and $600 it stays reasonable for outdoor or bedroom use. At or above the $849 launch MSRP the measured performance does not carry the price unless the battery is the whole reason you are buying.
