Summary
An 18-inch bi-color LED ring light kit with built-in diffusion, 3200-5600 K output, up to 97 CRI, AC or two included NP-F750 batteries, a 6.5 ft stand and a carry case. Check the stand and accessory count before you buy: owners repeatedly report a wobbly tripod, and there is only one usable cold shoe while competitors ship remotes and multiple mounts.
Strengths
- Independent Tom’s Guide testing found very bright, even, flattering light and easy setup.
- Two included NP-F750 batteries give roughly an hour of cordless use at full power.
- High CRI/TLCI (up to 97) suits makeup, beauty and close product work.
- Passive cooling means no fan noise in quiet recording setups.
- Standard 5/8-inch receiver allows swapping to a better stand later.
- Included carry case, stand, mounts and charger make it a complete kit.
Weaknesses
- No remote control or Bluetooth shutter is included; competitors ship remotes.
- Only one usable cold shoe mount, occupied by the phone holder.
- Included stand draws repeated owner complaints about wobble and flimsiness.
- Battery runtime is about an hour at full power; long sessions need AC or spares.
- Relatively heavy kit at 11.1 lb with tripod.
- No independent tests from RTINGS, Wirecutter, CNET or PCMag of this exact model.

Brightness, color and diffusion
The ring covers 3200-5600 K in 25 K steps per the manufacturer and 100 K steps per Tom’s Guide’s hands-on test; treat the actual dial behavior as 100 K unless you confirm finer control on your unit. Brightness runs 0-100% in 1% steps. The built-in diffusion softens the output, and the reviewer found no frame-to-frame color inconsistency in a studio session. Retailer spec sheets list 587-654 lux at 1 m, 65.2-72.7 lux at 3 m and 23.5-26.2 lux at 5 m, but these are retailer specifications rather than independent measurements.
Battery and portable use
Two NP-F750 cells (7.2 V, 32.6 Wh each, 65.2 Wh combined) power the ring for up to 70 minutes at full power per the manufacturer and 60 minutes at 100% brightness and 5600 K in Tom’s Guide’s test. The single-bay charger needs up to 6 hours per charge, and both batteries must be the same type, capacity and state of charge. Remove the batteries for storage and transport to avoid an unintended turn-on heating the case. A USB-A 5 V output on the ring can top up a phone while shooting.
Reliability and repairs
One B&H owner reported the power switch becoming intermittent after 26 months of near-daily use, followed by flickering and shutdown, with no replacement control panel available after the 1-year warranty expired. Several B&H reviewers describe the included stand as flimsy or wobbly, while Tom’s Guide found the stand stable at full 74 in height with a phone or camera mounted; the difference likely comes from extension, floor, wind and payload. Westcott sells the AC adapter separately for $29.90, but no standalone replacement LED head, control board, charger, stand or case price was found. The fixture is not weather-sealed; keep it dry and wipe with a dry cloth.
Westcott lists the kit at $189.90 in the US and £159 in the UK, with the US page showing “Re-stocking soon” at inspection; B&H listed it at $189.90 in stock with free 2-day shipping, and other US retailers listed $189.90 to $189.99 in stock. A stale mid-2026 B&H cache showed $168.90, and used units started at $143.95, but neither is a confirmed current offer. Editorial thresholds: at $140 or less the kit is a strong deal; $141-$165 is fair value; $166-$190 is the ordinary price zone; above $190 it is weak against the same model’s available listings and against the Neewer RP19H, which Neewer lists from $159.99 with a remote and three phone mounts but no included batteries. The Neewer RL-18 lists around $114.99 to $119.99 for an AC-first kit. The Westcott U60-B softbox kit lists at $174.90 for a different light form factor.
Running costs are low: no subscription, filter or bulb. If the light drew its rated 48 W for 500 hours a year, that would be 24 kWh, or $4.80 at $0.20 per kWh as an illustrative rate; at 2,000 hours it would be 96 kWh, or $19.20. Two compatible Nanlite NP-F750 batteries list at $34.90 each and Smith-Victor at $42.95 each, but neither is a Westcott-certified substitute.
