Summary
A budget sit-stand riser that turns an ordinary desk into a standing desk: a steel X-frame with a single pneumatic spring lifts a 31.5 × 15.7 in surface from 4.5 to 20 in above the desk, with a removable keyboard shelf below and no power cord at all. Try the downward push before you buy, because the spring that raises the desk on its own is also what makes it hard to bring back down.
Strengths
- No power: the spring does the lifting, so there is no motor, cord or battery to fail.
- It raises itself: the gas spring lifted a loaded top unaided in Bob Vila’s test.
- It stays put: at full height with a load on it, forearms on the top moved it very little.
- Room for one laptop, one monitor and one keyboard, with the mouse and keyboard on a lower shelf.
- Small setup job: Bob Vila had it together in under 30 minutes, and buyers on VIVO’s own page single out easy assembly.
- Three years of cover on new units bought from VIVO or a registered seller.
Weaknesses
- Lowering is the hard part: the spring pushes up hard, and Bob Vila’s wife could not bring it down alone until she recovered from a back injury.
- About 30.5 lb to lift onto a desk and move around.
- VIVO does not publish the base footprint for this model, so check your desk depth before ordering.

Raising and lowering
The single pneumatic spring does most of the lifting. In Bob Vila’s 2021 hands-on test the top rose on its own with the load on it, and it locked at any height when he squeezed and released the handle. Coming down is the same mechanism in reverse, and it is the part owners complain about. Bob Vila wrote that his wife could not push the converter down without help until she had healed from a back injury. A buyer of an exact-model unit on eBay in September 2022 said the same thing: lowering took their whole body weight, and when they asked support what to do, they were told to set it on the floor and press down. They were not happy about doing that every time.
If you have shoulder or hand problems, test a riser before you commit. VIVO’s manual also warns against opening, drilling or heating the spring, so a cylinder that loses force is a warranty matter and not a job for the owner. Report grinding, a lever that will not latch or a desk that drops suddenly to VIVO rather than forcing it.
The workspace and your desk
The top is 31.5 × 15.7 in of laminate-faced particle board, 0.7 in thick, on a steel frame, and the lower shelf takes 4 lb. That is enough for a laptop, one monitor and a keyboard.
The desk underneath matters as much as the riser. VIVO does not publish the base width and depth for this model, so measure before you order, especially for a shallow desk. On a 29 in desk the top ends up 33.5 in above the floor, and the riser adds about 30.5 lb of mass to a desktop that has to carry it. A converter cannot rescue a wobbly desk, and a taller riser on a wobbling desk amplifies the wobble. Keep cables out of the support bars and leave slack for the full 15.5 in of travel; two cable clips come in the box for that. Bob Vila ran a laptop, a monitor and a full-size keyboard on his and called it stable at standing height.
Parts, warranty and running costs
Running it costs nothing: no electricity, no batteries, no filters, no subscription. Parts are the only outlay, and VIVO publishes no parts list for this converter. The manual identifies the pieces by letter, including the keyboard shelf and its four M5×10 mm screws, the pneumatic cylinder with no replaceable part number, four rubber feet, three protective pads, two cable clips and the keyboard stopper. If one is lost, send VIVO the model code DESK-V000K, the colour, the invoice and photos, and they will tell you what fits.
The warranty runs 3 years on new units bought from VIVO or a registered VIVO vendor; used units carry a 30-day limited warranty instead. Damage and missing parts have to be reported within 30 days of delivery, you need a return merchandise authorization before sending anything back, and refunds are processed in 3 to 5 business days. The general policy also says the warranty does not cover physical abuse, improper use, missing parts, or packaging that cannot carry a return. If you want a dual monitor arm with it, VIVO sells the DESK-V000K-M2 bundle with a mount for 13 to 30 in screens at $169.99.
Is it worth it?
Observed prices for the black 32-inch K in October 2026: $149.99 at Walmart with free shipping and 30-day returns, with VIVO shown as the seller, and $140.13 with free shipping from a third-party eBay seller on October 21, 2026, with another eBay capture showing $141.67. VIVO’s own K Series page carries a $119.99 headline, but that belongs to the default Black 26-inch model, not this one.
Below about $115 shipped is a strong price for a 32-inch riser. $136 to $150 is the normal range you will see for this model. Above $170 the money goes further elsewhere: VIVO’s own 32-inch V Series sits at $159.99 with a deeper 32 × 22 in top, and Target lists the FlexiSpot M7-E-32B at $152.99. A secondhand unit on eBay was asking $99 for local pickup with no returns, which is not compelling next to a new one you can still return.
Which model this is
This page covers the black 32-inch K Series riser, model DESK-V000K, sold by VIVO in the US. The black US listing for this converter is ASIN B075JYG2TB. Two other VIVO risers get mixed up with it. The DESK-V000S is a different model, rated 26 lb on top, with a 4.8 to 19.6 in range and a 0.5 in top. The V Series adds a second spring and a deeper top. VIVO changes model codes with size and colour, so check the label on the frame before you buy.
