Summary
A 4-inch dual-layer topper pairing 3 inches of gel-infused memory foam with a plush fiberfill pillow top, aimed at side sleepers who want a hotel-like feel. Check the fit before you buy: owners report it slips despite the skirt and straps.
Strengths
- Cloud-like plushness with pressure relief, especially for side sleepers.
- Gel-infused foam and a Tencel cover regulate temperature well in testing.
- The pillow-top cover comes off and goes in the washing machine.
- A 90-day trial and a 5-year warranty back the purchase.
- The fiberfill uses recycled ocean plastic.
- Tom’s Guide gave it Editor’s Choice after about a month of hands-on testing.
Weaknesses
- Only 3 of the 4 inches is memory foam; the rest is fiberfill.
- Owners report the topper shifts or comes off the mattress despite the skirt and straps.
- One owner reported the foam never expanded after 48 hours.
- Too soft for most stomach sleepers.
- The return process frustrated some owners.
- No independent lab test of this model exists.

Full research notes and sources
Comfort and feel
Tom’s Guide slept on the queen for about a month and called the feel medium-soft, with a cloud-like sink and good pressure relief for side sleepers. Motion isolation and temperature regulation also tested well, and the washable pillow-top layer is a practical advantage. The same review found it too soft for most stomach sleepers.
Fit, slipping and expansion
The 18-inch deep-pocket skirt and adjustable corner straps are meant to hold the topper in place, but owners on Reddit and in retailer Q&A threads report it shifting or coming off the mattress anyway; Tom’s Guide’s reviewer also saw misalignment. Nobody has published a failure rate, and it is unclear whether the slipping is a design flaw or a strap-installation issue, so treat it as a known annoyance rather than a defect. The foam needs 24 hours to expand after unboxing. One Reddit user reported the topper never expanded after 48 hours and described the return process as difficult.
Care and running costs
There are no consumables and no repair parts; this is a replaceable sleep product, not a repairable appliance. The pillow-top cover unzips and is machine washable, the foam core is not. Beyond the purchase price, the only running cost is eventual replacement, and the 5-year warranty covers defects in the meantime.
Is it worth it?
ViscoSoft’s own site listed the queen at $209.95 on sale against a $274.95 MSRP. Tom’s Guide noted a $264.95 MSRP in January 2025, often discounted to $199.95, and at launch in October 2024 the MSRP was $254.95, discounted to $189.95. Real Simple and People.com both listed it at $210 in 2026. Between $170 and $210 this is a reasonable mid-range option with strong editorial backing and a 5-year warranty. Above $210 the value gets harder to argue, given the lack of instrumented test data. If you are a stomach sleeper or want 4 inches of actual foam, look elsewhere.
Which model this is
This page covers the ViscoSoft Hybrid Lux 4-inch pillow top in queen, ASIN B075MQTB3W. It launched in October 2024 as the Serene Hybrid and was later rebranded Hybrid Lux. Do not confuse it with ViscoSoft’s Select High Density, Reflex Gel, Active Cooling or Dusk toppers; Wirecutter and Consumer Reports have tested the Select High Density, a different product, not this one.
