Summary
A discontinued 27-inch 1080p 144 Hz TN gaming monitor from 2019 with FreeSync, two HDMI ports and DisplayPort. Check the exact model label and panel before buying secondhand: listings often mislabel it as QHD IPS, and it is not the same monitor as the VX2758-2KP-MHD.
Strengths
- Nominal 144 Hz refresh, roughly 6.94 ms per frame versus 16.67 ms at 60 Hz, if the PC can supply 144 fps.
- FreeSync reduces tearing and stutter when the host supports it.
- Three digital inputs (two HDMI, one DisplayPort) for a PC plus two HDMI devices.
- 100 × 100 mm VESA mounting allows use on a monitor arm.
- Flicker-Free and Blue Light Filter settings are available.
- A 45-page manufacturer manual and three-year original-sale limited warranty exist.
Weaknesses
- TN panel with 6-bit + Hi-FRC color, narrower viewing angles than IPS.
- 1920 × 1080 on 27 inches is coarse text (about 81.6 pixels per inch).
- Stock stand tilts only; no height, pivot or rotation.
- No USB-C, USB hub, HDR, VGA or DVI.
- Discontinued, with no confirmed authorized US new stock in October 2026.
- A single documented owner reported vertical ghosting and overshoot that worsened with Ultra Fast overdrive.

Full research notes and sources
Panel and motion
The panel is a 27-inch TN LCD at 1920 × 1080 with a 0.31125 mm pixel pitch, so desktop text is coarser than on a same-size 1440p display. The 300 cd/m² typical brightness and 1000:1 static contrast are standard for the class; the 80,000,000:1 dynamic contrast figure is a marketing ratio, not simultaneous contrast. ViewSonic rates 5 ms typical gray-to-gray and 1 ms gray-to-gray only with overdrive, plus 1 ms MPRT; the EU sheet lists 1 ms typical gray-to-gray, a regional wording conflict. A documented 2021 owner reported vertical ghosting lines when scrolling, with Ultra Fast overdrive making it worse and a lower response mode reducing but not eliminating it; ViewSonic’s technician did not classify the unit as defective after an RMA inquiry. That report is one owner’s cross-posted experience, not a population failure rate. Test overdrive levels at 144, 120 and 60 Hz with and without adaptive sync before deciding.
Inputs, audio and ergonomics
Inputs are one HDMI 1.4, one HDMI 2.0, one DisplayPort 1.2, a 3.5 mm headphone/audio-out and an IEC C14 AC socket. There is no USB-C video, USB hub, VGA, DVI or audio-in. The two HDMI ports differ in generation, so mark the connector before troubleshooting high-refresh signals; 144 Hz depends on the host and cable. Built-in speakers are 2.5 W each. The stand tilts -5° to +15° only, with no height, pivot or rotation; the 100 × 100 mm VESA mount allows a third-party arm, such as the VIVO STAND-V001 at $34.99 or the STAND-V101O at $49.99. A Kensington lock slot is present. The original box includes an AC power cord and an HDMI cable, not a DisplayPort cable.
Running costs
No subscription or proprietary consumables. Manufacturer-rated power is 38 W typical, 42 W maximum and 0.5 W standby, with eco optimized 33 W and eco conserve 28 W. At 6 hours a day lit at 38 W plus 18 hours standby at 0.5 W, that is 86.505 kWh a year, or about $17.30 a year at $0.20 per kWh, for the display only. At 8 hours a day at 38 W it is 110.96 kWh and about $22.19; at the 42 W maximum it is 122.64 kWh and about $24.53. The EU sheet lists 35 W typical and 39 W maximum, so actual draw varies by region, brightness and mode. The 30,000-hour backlight rating is a component-life estimate, not a warranty or a demonstrated average lifespan. A VESA arm is a one-time cost, not an annual one.
Is it worth it?
ViewSonic lists the VX2758-P-MHD as Discontinued with Contact Sales instead of a buy price. Newegg’s exact listing (N82E16824116139) is out of stock and B&H lists it as No Longer Available. Pangoly shows asking prices from $259.99 to $379.90, all marked out of stock. An eBay listing in October 2026 asked $65 used with roughly $197 to $205 shipping and incorrectly called it QHD, for a total near $262 to $270; another asked $179.10 new plus $71.55 shipping while also mislabeling it QHD IPS. The original 2019 launch price was $235. Editorial thresholds: $0 to $40 locally verified is a reasonable bargain, $41 to $65 all-in is acceptable after in-person testing, $66 to $90 delivered is borderline, and above $90 used or above $120 even unopened is generally poor value against current alternatives. Those alternatives include the MSI MAG 275F at $149.97 (Micro Center, October 2026), the MSI MAG 274QF E20 at $159.99 (Newegg) and the ViewSonic VX2728J-2K at $169.99 (Best Buy). For a new purchase in 2026, no. Current 27-inch 1080p and 1440p IPS monitors at 180 to 200 Hz sell around $150 to $170 with full warranties, while the VX2758-P-MHD is discontinued with no confirmed authorized US new stock. A verified used unit at $0 to $40 can still serve as a budget 144 Hz screen if the TN viewing angles and any ghosting are acceptable; above that, the newer IPS options are the safer spend. Buyers doing color-sensitive work, needing sharp small text, or wanting height adjustment should skip it regardless of price.
Which model this is
This page covers the ViewSonic VX2758-P-MHD, a 27-inch flat 1920 × 1080 144 Hz TN monitor introduced in August 2019, UPC 766907003000, chassis family VS17801. It is not the VX2758-2KP-MHD, a different 27-inch IPS 2560 × 1440 monitor that frequently contaminates marketplace descriptions and search results. Other VX2758 and VX2458 variants have different panels and specifications. The Amazon listing for this model is ASIN B07VL1531X. Confirm the printed rear label reads VX2758-P-MHD before paying, since listings often mislabel it.
