Problems, parts and running costs

Summary

Check two things before buying: the 1 ms claim is MPRT backlight strobing that cannot run with FreeSync and dims the panel by about 18%, and the stand tilts only.

Strengths

  • FreeSync Premium (48–144 Hz) with G-Sync Compatible support.
  • Wide viewing angles and good color for a budget IPS panel.
  • Sharp 1440p image on a 27-inch screen.
  • Good value around $250 or less.

Weaknesses

  • The 1 ms figure is MPRT strobing, not GtG response; it cannot run with FreeSync and costs about 18% brightness.
  • Tilt-only stand that sits low.
  • Low 1000:1 contrast limits dark-room performance.
  • No USB ports or USB-C input, and no DisplayPort cable in the box.
  • Basic HDR10 with no local dimming and no DisplayHDR 400 certification.
  • IPS glow and backlight bleeding vary by unit.

Motion and response time

Motion handling is praised, but aggressive overdrive can overshoot.

Color, brightness and HDR

Manufacturer rates it at 90% DCI-P3, NTSC 90% and sRGB 127%, with 350 cd/m² typical brightness and 1000:1 contrast. HDR is basic HDR10 with no local dimming and no DisplayHDR 400 certification; the deep contrast of a VA panel is not on offer at 1000:1.

Stand, ports and ergonomics

The stand is tilt-only (-5°/+15°) and sits low per the manufacturer, DisplayNinja and MonitorNerds, though TechPickStream describes a fully adjustable stand. There are no USB ports or USB-C input, no DisplayPort cable is included, and the rear OSD uses buttons rather than a joystick. The monitor is VESA 100×100 mm compatible for an arm.

Value

DisplayNinja usually saw it around $330 in 2022; TechPickStream saw $249–$299 in 2024, often $229 during sale events. At about $250 or less it is strong value for a 1440p 144 Hz IPS monitor with good motion handling and color; at $251–$300 it is good but worth comparing with rivals such as the Acer XV272U and MSI G273QF; above $300 better options exist.

Which model this is

This page covers the ViewSonic VX2758-2KP-MHD, a 27-inch QHD IPS gaming monitor. Do not confuse it with the 1080p TN VX2758-P-MHD, the curved VA VX2758-C-MH, or the VX2758-2KP-MHD-7 variant in ViewSonic’s FreeSync compatibility list.
