  • Driver-free USB 2.0 plug-and-play with a 2 m cable.
  • Two omnidirectional microphones with noise reduction rated to 3 m pickup.
  • A 2-year warranty, longer than the one year typical of budget webcams.
  • A 360° mount with 15° of tilt and a 1/4" tripod thread.
  • Clear 1080p in good light, with automatic light correction owners call effective.
  • A compact design owners describe as neat and easy to set up.

Weaknesses

  • Fixed focus with no manual focus adjustment.

Focus, connector and low light

The lens is fixed focus, so there is no manual focus ring to adjust. The connector is USB-A; a laptop with only USB-C ports needs an adapter, and one is not in the box. “Noise-cancelling” here means 2D digital noise reduction on the microphone path, with no beamforming or hardware ANC described. The 3 m pickup range is a manufacturer figure measured in UGREEN’s own lab and may vary by room.

Mounting and setup

The camera sits on a 360° gimbal ball with about 15° of tilt, so it can be angled on a monitor or laptop, and a 1/4" screw hole takes a tripod (not included). Setup is plug-and-play over USB 2.0 with no driver install, and the 2 m cable leaves room to place it. Peel the protective film off the lens before first use.

Warranty and value

UGREEN US and EU list a 2-year warranty with 30-day returns, above the one year typical of budget webcams; one regional listing states one year. There is no software subscription and no recurring cost beyond a USB port. The US list is $39.99; EU lists the same SKU at €27.99, Singapore at S$35.99 on sale from S$39.99, India at ₹4,199 down from ₹8,763, and a New Zealand retailer at NZ$83.99 down from NZ$100.99.

Is it worth it?

At $39.99 it is a competitive budget 1080p30 webcam, and the 2-year warranty is the clearest paper differentiator in a band where one year is typical. The case rests on price, warranty length, the dual-microphone 3 m claim and the 360° mount, not on measured performance, because no instrumented test of this exact model was found and RTINGS does not review webcams at all. At $41–60 the value is fair, so compare budget webcams with longer test histories and autofocus. Above $60 the value is weak: that money should buy autofocus, a privacy cover and tested image quality, none of which this model confirms.

Which model this is

This page covers the UGREEN 1080P 30FPS Webcam, model CM678, part number 15728, in grey plastic. Regional listings use both names, “UGREEN 15728” and “CM678”, and one gives EAN 6941876217281. Do not confuse it with the UGREEN 2K webcam (SKU 75330, model CM717, 80° field of view), the 4K webcam (SKU 65381, model CM831, 70° field of view), or the CM678 P/N 75326 listing; those share marketing language but use different sensors and fields of view.
