Summary
A 1U rackmount UniFi gateway, controller and optional NVR in one box, with 3.5 Gbps IDS/IPS and two 10G SFP+ ports. Check whether you need PoE, custom DNS or NAT control before buying: this model has no PoE ports and owners report those routing features are missing.
Strengths
- All-in-one gateway, controller and NVR at $379 undercuts many separate-box setups.
- Easy Bluetooth app-based setup; adequate for basic home and small-business networks.
- 3.5 Gbps IDS/IPS throughput stays high relative to older USG units even with DPI enabled.
- 10G SFP+ ports are useful for high-throughput links to switches.
- Quiet operation when no hard drive is installed.
- Touchscreen status syncs across UniFi rack devices.
Weaknesses
- No PoE ports; PoE devices need an adapter or a separate PoE switch.
- Fan noise when a hard drive is installed.
- VPN throughput was called abysmal by at least one owner, while others reached their WAN speed.
- Custom DNS entries and disabling NAT are not supported per owner reports.
- Load balancing between two WAN connections is not supported; only failover.
- No hard drive included; disks taller than 15 mm or needing more than 5 V may not fit.

Noise and storage
Without a disk installed the unit is quiet and the fans stay low; installing a hard drive brings audible fan noise. The bay takes one 3.5" or 2.5" drive and no disk is shipped in the box, and disks taller than 15 mm or needing more than 5 V may not work. Plan on roughly $50 for a 1 TB disk as one owner suggested, plus the $99 per year CyberSecure subscription if you want that filtering.
Routing and VPN limits
Owners report that the DNS server cannot answer queries and custom DNS entries are not supported, and that NAT cannot be disabled. Load balancing between two WAN connections is not supported, only failover. VPN throughput drew both praise and criticism: at least one owner called it abysmal, while others reached their WAN speed. These are individual reports, not measured defect rates.
Running costs and warranty
Ubiquiti’s warranty is two years for units bought direct from the Ubiquiti webstore and one year for units bought from an authorized distributor or reseller, from delivery or shipment. UI Care extends replacement protection to five years for $75.00, and CyberSecure (Proofpoint) costs $99.00 per year. No enterprise-grade support is included by default in the US; paid enterprise support is available.
Is it worth it?
At $379 from the Ubiquiti US store, UDM-Pro is good value for buyers already in the UniFi ecosystem who need 3.5 Gbps IDS/IPS and optional NVR storage; it replaces older USG plus Cloud Key combinations at similar or lower cost. Value is weaker if you need PoE, 2.5G or 10G copper ports, custom DNS or NAT control, or enterprise support, so compare UDM-SE, UDM-Pro-Max or other platforms. Ubiquiti lists it at $379.00 and the retailer listings found show the same figure.
