What is in the set
The 249DS set holds an 8-inch and a 10-inch fry pan, 1.5-quart and 2-quart covered sauce pans, a 3-quart covered sauté pan, a 6-quart covered deep sauté pan and an 8-quart covered stock pot — seven pieces plus five lids. The current Signature 249DS uses a 6-quart deep sauté pan instead and is rated to 500°F.
How it cooks
No lab has tested the exact 12-piece set. The closest instrumented data is Consumer Reports’ 8-piece sibling (80116/247DS), rated excellent for cooking evenness, handle sturdiness and simmering, and very good for food release, handle temperature and heating speed. The Rational Kitchen measured the 12-inch skillet at 2.6 mm with a 1.7 mm aluminum core, noting it heats a touch less evenly than All-Clad D3 but holds heat a little better; Serious Eats found the Tramontina skillet fairly identical to All-Clad in head-to-head use.
Tramontina lists the set at $399.95 direct and Home Depot at $308.81 (2026); the sibling 8-piece was listed from $219.66. Compared with All-Clad D3 sets at $500-700 for 10 pieces, the Tramontina runs roughly 20-25% of the price for comparable construction. The lifetime warranty covers defects in materials and workmanship, excludes overheating, harsh cleansers and commercial use, and is handled by Tramontina USA customer service. Individual pieces are sold separately, so a damaged pan can be replaced without buying a whole new set.
