Strengths
- Consumer Reports rated a Tri-Ply Clad set excellent for cooking evenness, food release and speed of heating.
- Wirecutter measured heat distribution on par with All-Clad D3, within 30 degrees across the pan.
- The 2.6 mm walls and 1.7 mm aluminum core closely match All-Clad D3.
- Boston-style riveted handles stay cool and are widely preferred over All-Clad’s U-shaped handle.
- Works on every cooktop, induction included.
- A lifetime warranty Tramontina has a reputation for honoring.
Weaknesses
- The set is oven-safe only to 350°F, far below the 500°F of the individual Boston fry pan and the Signature line.
- Tempered glass lids are less durable than stainless steel and lower the oven ceiling.
- Most pieces have straight sides with no pouring lip, so they pour less cleanly than an All-Clad D3.
- Wirecutter found the skillet develops a bronze discoloration after searing that is almost impossible to clean.
- Amazon and Tramontina’s own site list different 10-piece contents, so buyers may get different pieces.
- One Reddit owner reports a pan that warped and became unusable, though others report years of flat use.

Cooking performance
Consumer Reports tested a Tri-Ply Clad set and rated it excellent for cooking evenness, food release and stockpot speed of heating, with very good handle temperature, handle sturdiness and simmering. Wirecutter named the 12-inch Tri-Ply Clad fry pan its runner-up skillet: heat distribution sits within 30 degrees across the pan, on par with All-Clad D3, and it browned chicken skin as well as pans costing almost twice as much. The Rational Kitchen measured the same pan at 2.6 mm with a 1.7 mm aluminum core, nearly identical to All-Clad D3, and found it heats slightly less evenly but retains heat slightly better.
What you actually get
The configuration depends on the source. Amazon and Macy’s list the 10-piece set as two fry pans, 1.5-quart and 3-quart covered sauce pans, a 3-quart covered saute pan and an 8-quart covered stock pot; Tramontina’s website lists a different 10-piece set with a 2-quart sauce pan and a 5-quart Dutch oven instead of the saute pan and stock pot. The set is made in China, where Tramontina uses tempered glass lids rather than the stainless lids on its Brazilian Tri-Ply Clad.
The oven rating is the other surprise. The set is rated to 350°F, but the individual Boston fry pan is rated to 500°F, and Tramontina does not explain the gap.
Care and discoloration
The pans are dishwasher-safe, but handwashing is recommended to keep the finish. Dishwasher detergent can dull stainless over time, and abrasive cleaners will scratch it; a stainless cleaner such as Bar Keepers Friend restores the shine. Wirecutter warns that the skillet picks up a bronze discoloration after searing or oven use that is almost impossible to clean. Glass lids are the first thing to break if a piece is dropped.
Is it worth it?
At or under about $200 this is a strong value: fully clad construction, Consumer Reports-verified evenness, induction compatibility and a lifetime warranty. Tramontina lists its 10-piece set at $194.95, and The Rational Kitchen reported the comparable Chinese 10-piece at about $210 in 2023. Macy’s lists its version at $333.99, where the value weakens unless this exact configuration is what you want. Reddit owners mention a $188 sale and paying closer to $200. Above $250, alternatives with stainless lids or higher oven ratings become the better buy.
