Summary

TP-Link’s quad-band Wi-Fi 7 flagship router, rated BE24000, with two 10 Gbps, four 2.5 Gbps and one 1 Gbps Ethernet ports for multi-gigabit home networks. Check your client devices before you buy: Wi-Fi 7 features such as 320 MHz channels, 4K-QAM and MLO require client support, and 320 MHz is only available on the 6 GHz band.

Strengths

  • RTINGS scored it 8.4 with fantastic top speeds and impressive range.
  • Two 10 Gbps ports (one RJ45, one SFP+/RJ45 combo) plus four 2.5 Gbps ports.
  • 12 internal antennas and a quad-band design for dense device loads.
  • EasyMesh compatible, so it can anchor a mesh later.
  • Access Point Mode is available alongside Router Mode.

Weaknesses

  • The unit is physically large.
  • Unsuitable for competitive gaming over Wi-Fi, with only adequate wireless latency.
  • 320 MHz is limited to the 6 GHz band and may be restricted by regional rules.
  • HomeShield Pro is a paid subscription; only Basic is free.
  • Manufacturer claims such as 250+ clients and 4-bedroom-house coverage are not independently verified.
  • No price or warranty data were collected, so value depends on the retail price.

Top speeds and range

RTINGS bought and tested the Archer BE900 and assigned a default score of 8.4, describing fantastic top speeds, impressive range and many multi-gigabit Ethernet ports. Its usage assessments call close-range top speeds excellent for apartments and condos, top speeds and range great for multi-level houses, and speeds outstanding for multi-gigabit internet, with decent wireless latency and jitter similar to most routers. No numeric throughput, latency in milliseconds or range in feet were captured in this research. RTINGS also removed its Wi-Fi coverage tests for this model.

Ports and connectivity

The port set is the main draw: one 10 Gbps RJ45 WAN/LAN, one 10 Gbps SFP+/RJ45 combo WAN/LAN, four 2.5 Gbps LAN and one 1 Gbps LAN, plus USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 for FTP, media and Samba serving. On the SFP+/RJ45 combo port only one of SFP+ or RJ45 can be used as WAN, and 10 Gbps internet speeds require compatible service plans and equipment. VPN server and client modes cover OpenVPN, PPTP, L2TP and WireGuard, with one guest network per band. IPv4 and IPv6, device-based QoS and parental controls through HomeShield round out the software side.

Size and gaming

RTINGS flags the unit as physically large and unsuitable for competitive gaming over Wi-Fi, with only adequate wireless latency for web browsing and non-competitive gaming. The manufacturer markets “4 Bedroom Houses” coverage, which is a claim rather than a measurement. Simultaneous 320 MHz on 6 GHz plus 160 MHz on 5 GHz may be unavailable in some regions due to regulatory restrictions, and Wi-Fi 7 features require client support.

Firmware and reliability

TP-Link publishes firmware for US hardware V2.6 on its support page, most recently version 1.3.1 Build 20260208, published 2026-03-26. An earlier release, 1.1.7 from 2025-07-21, fixed random reboots and unstable wireless connections on iPhone after iOS 18.4.1, which indicates those issues were reported by customers before the fix. TP-Link recommends upgrading over a wired connection and not powering off during an upgrade. Warranty length, typical power consumption and owner-reported long-term reliability were not established from the pages checked. HomeShield Pro is a paid subscription on top of the free Basic plan.

Is it worth it?

Value cannot be quantified without a retail price, and no price data were collected in this research. On test evidence, the Archer BE900 offers a high port count and strong top speeds and range, offset by large physical size and unsuitability for competitive Wi-Fi gaming.

Which model this is

This page covers the TP-Link Archer BE900, also sold as the Archer BE24000, a quad-band Wi-Fi 7 standalone router. US hardware versions listed are V1, V1.60, V2 and V2.60. The manufacturer page also links to a BestBuy listing (SKU 6533023). The Amazon listing for this model is ASIN B0BRD3P4XV. Do not confuse it with Deco mesh units, Archer BE-series variants with different port counts, or non-US hardware versions.
