Summary

A large Android-only Wear OS 3 watch for buyers who want multi-day battery life more than the newest software. It leads its class on runtime, but check the update history and the missing Google Assistant before you buy.

Strengths

  • Battery life leads its class, measured at 75-83 hours in light use.
  • The ultra-low-power display keeps the time on screen for days.
  • Solid build: aluminum case, 5ATM water resistance and MIL-STD-810H.
  • Fast top-up of 49-65% in about 30 minutes.
  • Broad health sensors with 100+ workout modes, VO2 max and recovery metrics.
  • Google Pay, calls and notifications work reliably in professional testing.

Weaknesses

  • Optical heart rate lags during intervals: 100 bpm read versus 160 bpm on a chest strap in PCMag’s sprint test.
  • The ultra-low-power display is hard to read in dim indoor light and has no manual backlight.
  • No ECG, no US cellular variant and no iOS support.
  • Bloatware apps clutter the app drawer.
  • The pogo-pin charging puck has weak magnets.

Battery life and the two displays

The 628 mAh cell plus the segmented second display is the whole point. Mobvoi claims up to 80 hours, but that figure needs heavy reliance on the low-power display; with the AMOLED always-on instead, runtime drops sharply. CNET saw 2 days typical and 4 days in ULP mode, PCMag 75 hours normal and 66.5 hours heavy, The Verge 48-60 hours with 45-60 min GPS a day, and TechGearLab 83.3 hours regular. Charging is quick: 49% in 30 min (CNET), 65% in 30 min (9to5Google), full in about 70 min (TechGearLab). The weak magnets on the charging puck are an annoyance owners and reviewers both mention.

Software updates and apps

The most repeated complaint is update support. The Pro 5 had not received Wear OS 4 by CNET’s January 2024 review, and Mobvoi gave no roadmap. Older TicWatches waited about a year for Wear OS 3. Google Assistant was absent at launch and still absent in that review. The watch ships with a long list of Tic apps (TicBreathe, TicBarometer, TicCare, TicCompass, TicExercise, TicHealth, TicOxygen, TicPulse, TicSleep, TicZen and more) that reviewers say clogs the app drawer. Advanced sleep metrics sit behind a $2.99/month Mobvoi VIP membership, and Mobvoi does not disclose how the sleep score is calculated.

Health tracking

Tracking is broad: over 100 workout modes, VO2 max, recovery, SpO2 and skin temperature. Accuracy is mixed. PCMag saw heart rate read low in intervals, including 100 bpm during a sprint where Apple Watch Series 8 and a chest strap showed 160 bpm; indoor-bike average was 112 versus 121 bpm. SpO2 matched the Series 8 in its test. Sleep duration tracked closely with a Polar Ignite 3, but the sleep score disagreed (85 versus 65) and the calculation is undisclosed. The Verge found heart rate within 5 bpm of a Polar H10 strap but with occasional lag, and sleep stages less accurate than an Oura Ring.

Repairs, warranty and running costs

iFixit rates repairability 5/10 and identifies the model by TICWATCH/MOBVOI markings on the bottom; bands swap freely. A full disassembly guide exists (four T4 Torx screws, silicone gasket, ribbon cables), but its author warns the haptics stopped working after teardown. Mobvoi’s store FAQ sets after-sales by value: watches under $300 are replaced, those at $300 or more are repaired. Beyond the optional VIP membership and 24 mm straps, there is no recurring cost. The charger is included.

Is it worth it?

At the $349.99 MSRP it is weak-to-fair value in 2026, two generations old in Wear OS terms and facing an identically priced successor, the Pro 5 Enduro. The reported June 2024 sale level of £245 / $261 (Tech Advisor) is fair-to-good for battery-first buyers, and under $200 it is strong value if you find one new or reputable-refurbished. The catches are interval heart-rate lag and the update uncertainty, so weigh those against how much you rely on Google Assistant and current apps.

Which model this is

This page covers the Mobvoi TicWatch Pro 5, model WH12088, ASIN B0FT74P2D7. It was the first Wear OS 3 TicWatch and the first watch on the Snapdragon W5+ Gen 1. It shipped in the US in one size and two colors, Obsidian black and Sandstone, with no cellular variant. Do not confuse it with the TicWatch Pro 5 Enduro (the May 2024 successor with sapphire glass) or the older Pro 3 and 4G-LTE models.
