Summary
A 4G LTE kids’ smartwatch for roughly ages 3 to 12, built around parent-approved contacts, video calling and location tracking instead of a phone. Check two things first: it runs on AT&T or T-Mobile, not Verizon, and it is now the previous generation, replaced by the TickTalk 6.
Strengths
- Reviewers praise the video calling and clear voice calls.
- The closed ecosystem blocks unknown callers, browsers, app stores and social media.
- Outdoor GPS tracking is accurate enough to give parents peace of mind.
- Free iHeartRadio Family music streaming is the feature kids mention most.
- The watch body survives rough use, including rain and drops.
- Setup is quick, and kids adapt to the watch fast.
Weaknesses
- The silicone wristband breaks and feels brittle or sweaty for owners, and replacements cost $29.99.
- Battery life is about two days in normal use, shorter than TickTalk’s own marketing claims.
- GPS can fall back to cell-tower positioning and show a location a few roads away.
- It is not compatible with Verizon or Sprint.
- The 240 × 283 screen is low resolution, and the body is bulky for smaller wrists.
- The model is now previous generation, sold out on TickTalk’s own store.

Cost and the cellular plan
The watch is only useful with service. TickTalk Wireless runs on AT&T or T-Mobile and starts at $9.99 a month, with tiers listed at $14.99, $15.99 and $19.99. TickTalk’s own store showed a $159.99 list price, while a press release quoted a $149.99 MSRP, so the two first-party figures disagree. One review site modeled a first-year total of about $279.87 and a second-year total of about $399.75, though those totals are its arithmetic, not TickTalk’s.
Location, GPS and privacy
Outdoor tracking is generally accurate, and the app keeps a location history that can reach back three months. In weak signal the watch can fall back to cell-tower positioning, where TickTalk’s own published range runs from 500 feet to 20 miles, so the pin can be well off; owners report it showing a location a few roads away. Sale pages and TickTalk’s marketing disagree on whether the TickTalk 5 offers geofence alerts, so verify that in the current app before relying on it. One owner reported the watch sending constant traffic to Chinese servers, some of it unencrypted; that report is unverified.
Warranty and repairs
TickTalk states a 1-year limited manufacturer warranty with a 30-day money-back guarantee. Outside that window, TickTalk’s support article says a damaged watch can be replaced for a $100 fee, and hardware faults go through replacement rather than repair. The wristband is user-replaceable; TickTalk sells one for $29.99 and offers a free band replacement service with shipping.
