TCL NXTPAPER 11 Plus: problems, parts and running costs

Checked: 2026-10-10

Summary

The problems here are software, not hardware: some US units were still on a July 5, 2025 security patch in June 2026, and owners report palm-rejection marks, crashes in note and drawing apps, occasional charging faults and wide variation in standby drain. Keeping it running costs nothing mandatory per year beyond the electricity for charging, and the optional T-Pen 2 and Bluetooth keyboard are one-time $39.99 and $59.99 items. At a tablet-only 8GB/256GB price around $200-225 it is good value for the matte 120Hz screen, while $260 or more is hard to justify against the pen-and-case Set.

Yearly running cost

Mandatory running cost is $0 per year. There is no software or account subscription, no ink or cartridge, and no published battery-maintenance purchase schedule. Electricity to charge the 8,000mAh cell works out to roughly $0.77 per year on the assumptions in the research (100 full-equivalent charges, 80% efficiency, $0.20/kWh); those are assumptions, not a measured figure. Replacing a lost T-Pen 2 ($39.99) or the optional keyboard ($59.99) is a one-time contingency, not an annual cost. No repair allowance can be computed because no failure rates or service prices were found. [1][3][4][5]
