Summary
A 53 g symmetrical competitive gaming mouse with a TrueMove 42K Pro sensor, 8,000 Hz polling over 6 GHz+ Ultra-Wideband wireless, and hot-swappable dual batteries. Check your desk space before you buy: the mouse has no USB port at all, so charging, firmware updates and use all depend on the short-range UWB base station.
Strengths
- Comfortable palm-grip shape at 53 g.
- Stable UWB wireless with 8,000 Hz polling and single-packet delivery.
- Hot-swappable dual batteries give effectively zero downtime.
- SteelSeries GG software with Aim Tools and QuickSet profiles.
- Optical switches rated for 100M clicks.
Weaknesses
- No USB-C port on the mouse; all charging, firmware updates and use require the UWB base station.
- Scroll wheel feel is less defined than competitors.
- Optical switches feel “featureless” compared with analog magnetic switches.
- Black finish is a fingerprint magnet.
- UWB range is short, roughly a mousepad area.

Full research notes and sources
Battery system and UWB dependency
The Infinite Power System uses two hot-swappable battery pucks that charge in the base station. SteelSeries claims up to 120 hours at 1K polling or 32 hours at 8,000 Hz total (60 h / 16 h per puck), with about 3 hours to recharge a puck. Tom’s Guide and PC Gamer confirm the per-battery figures. The mouse has no USB-C port and cannot be used or charged over cable — firmware updates also depend on the base station. UWB range is limited to roughly a mousepad area, which is fine for desk use but shorter than 2.4 GHz wireless.
Software and customization
SteelSeries GG (desktop and web) handles button mapping, DPI steps, polling rates, SuperSync and Aim Tools profiles. No subscription or consumable lock-in is described. The software is free and reviewers found it capable for competitive tweaking.
Repairs, parts and running costs
SteelSeries states replacement batteries will be available, but no price or timing was given in the sources. The mouse has no user-serviceable parts beyond the battery pucks. No warranty length or terms were found in the sources read. Long-term reliability of the no-cable UWB design and base station is unproven.
Is it worth it?
At $179.99 the Sensei Pro is a top-tier competitive mouse whose value rests on UWB, 8K polling, 53 g weight, hot-swap batteries and GG customization. For competitive palm-grip players who will use those features it is recommended by all three editorial reviewers. For players who do not need 8K/UWB or hot-swap batteries, lower-priced alternatives such as the Corsair Sabre V2 Pro at $99 make the $179.99 price harder to justify.
Which model this is
This page covers the SteelSeries Sensei Pro Wireless, symmetrical full-size model, sold in black and white. The sibling Rival Pro is the ergonomic variant with identical internals. Smaller Sensei Pro Mini (49 g) and Rival Pro Mini variants exist. Do not confuse with the older Sensei Wireless Laser Mouse, Sensei Ten, Sensei 310 or Aerox lines. ASIN B0HKP4W1G9.
