Summary

A budget over-ear wireless headphone with hybrid active noise cancellation and long battery life, aimed at buyers who want noise cancelling and run time more than sound quality. Check the fit first: the internal earcups are 57 × 38 mm, which reviewers and owners call small for larger ears.

Strengths

  • Noise cancelling measured at an average 25 dB across frequencies, strong for the price class.
  • Battery life is a standout, rated at 40 hours with ANC on and measured at 49 hours in one test.
  • Memory foam pads, protein leather and light clamping force keep it comfortable for long sessions.
  • The app’s 22 EQ presets let you tune the bass-heavy signature toward your taste.
  • It folds down and pairs with two devices at once, handy for travel.
  • Value, battery, comfort and ANC are the points owners praise most.

Weaknesses

  • Sound is bass-heavy, unbalanced and muddy, with a U-shaped response and a flat soundstage.
  • Multipoint drops the second device or powers off without warning.
  • The build is mostly hard plastic; owners report peeling earcups and hinges that break.
  • The earcups are small at 57 × 38 mm, so larger ears may not fit.
  • Buttons are small and closely spaced, which makes accidental presses common.
  • ANC can distort with movement or a breeze, and one owner calls it worse than the older Q20.

Battery life and charging

Soundcore rates the Q20i at 40 hours with ANC on and 60 hours off, with an 800 mAh cell and a 5-minute charge that yields 4 hours. Independent testing measured 49 hours in an ANC-on run, above the claim, which suggests the rating is conservative. Charging time is less consistent: the manual says 90 minutes, while Anker support and testing put it near 2 hours. Battery life can fall off with age; one owner reports roughly 2 hours from a 90% charge after 2 years.

Noise cancelling

Testing measured an average 25 dB of reduction across frequencies, clearing voices, keyboard clacks and low-frequency hum rather than matching premium models. Good Housekeeping found it silenced train rumble on the commute and removed office chatter. Owners mostly agree it is strong for the money, but one r/anker owner says it distorts with any movement and is unusable in a breeze, so results depend on fit and firmware. Transparency mode does not amplify voices; conversations stay hard while music plays.

Sound and the app

The tuning is the main compromise: bass overpowers most genres, treble is erratic, and the soundstage is flat. The 22 EQ presets help but do not fully fix the imbalance; Good Housekeeping recommends the Soundcore Signature preset as the most balanced. Vocals and podcasts suffer with bass boost on. The app itself is widely called confusing even after weeks of use, and the buttons on the headphones are easy to mis-hit.

Build, comfort and upkeep

Comfort is the Q20i’s quiet strength: at about 243 g it stays put through an 8-hour day without pressure points. The cups are small, the build feels plasticky, and no carry pouch is included. Soundcore’s upkeep advice is to use the headphones at least monthly, charge them every 3 months in storage, avoid running the battery to 20% or lower, keep them dry, and wipe the protein leather with alcohol rather than wearing them after a sweat.

Which model this is

This page covers the Q20i, model A3004, sold in Black, Blue, Pink and White. Soundcore uses A3004Z11 for Black and A3004G11 for Blue, but the hardware is the same. It is not the older Life Q20 (non-i), the Q30, the Q35 or the H30i, which have different features. The US listing is ASIN B0C3HCD34R.

Is it worth it?

Value depends on what you pay and what you care about. At $40–$50 it is a strong budget pick for ANC and battery, with sound and build as the trade-offs. At $51–$70 it still makes sense for ANC-first buyers, though TechGearLab recommends the 1More SonoFlow Pro over it for overall performance. Above $70 the value weakens, and Good Housekeeping points to the 1More SonoFlow SE at about £55 as a step up. TechGearLab listed the Q20i at $70, Soundcore UK lists it at £49.99 new and £42.49 refurbished, and Best Buy showed a $44.99 sale from $69.99. There is no subscription, but replacement earpads are the only obvious ongoing cost.
