Summary
A rugged, palm-sized 15W Bluetooth speaker with IP68 water protection, a 24-hour battery and a USB-C power bank, best for outdoor use where durability matters more than sound quality. Check the sound before you buy: owners on multiple storefronts report weak bass and piercing treble.
Strengths
- IP68 water and dust protection with 1-meter drop resistance; it floats with the drivers pointing up.
- Battery life matches the claim: SoundGuys measured 5 hours 55 minutes at maximum volume with lights on, close to the rated 6 hours.
- The USB-C port doubles as a power bank for emergency phone charging.
- The digital display shows battery level and mode at a glance.
- The Soundcore app offers a custom EQ, lighting control and firmware updates.
- TWS pairing gives real stereo with a second unit.
Weaknesses
- No built-in microphone, so it cannot take phone calls.
- No AUX input — audio is Bluetooth-only.
- Owners on the UK and Canadian Soundcore stores report weak bass; one Canada owner returned it for that reason.
- SpeakerRanking describes the treble as “a bit piercing and metallic” with a peak around 10 kHz, and the speaker is directional.
- The 24-hour battery claim requires 50% volume with lights off; at full volume with lights on it drops to about 6 hours.
- The RGB lighting impacts battery and may be unnecessary for some users.

Sound quality
Out of the box the Boom Go 3i is a bass-forward 15W mono speaker, and that is where the complaints start. Owners on the UK Soundcore store call it “really lacking a lot of bass” and say the Soundcore Mini 3 sounds better; a Canada store owner asked for a refund citing weak bass next to the JBL Clip 5. An eufy community thread has an owner reporting high-frequency distortion that a firmware update partially improved. The custom EQ in the Soundcore app helps but does not fully resolve these issues. SoundGuys sums it up: “a small 15W mono speaker and not a party starter.”
Battery life and features
Soundcore rates the 4,800 mAh battery at up to 24 hours (50% volume, lights off, BassUp mode) or 40 hours in Eco mode. At the other extreme — 100% volume, lights on, BassUp — the claim drops to 6 hours, and SoundGuys measured 5 hours 55 minutes in that configuration. One US store owner reports the battery going from 100% to 72% after 8 hours of play at 80% volume with BassUp on. Charging takes about 4 hours over USB-C, and the same port works as a power bank for a phone. The digital display shows battery level, volume and mode icons, and the RGB strips offer 6 music-reactive and 8 ambient modes — though the lighting drains the battery and SoundGuys says it “may feel unnecessary for some users.”
Warranty, repairs and running costs
There are no consumables and no subscription; the Soundcore app is free. Warranty length depends on region: Anker Japan lists 18 months plus 6 more with member registration (24 total), Soundcore Philippines lists 18 months, and US pages state only “Hassle-Free Warranty.” The Soundcore US support page offers a self-service repair request — under warranty, quality problems are repaired free; out of warranty, you get a quote after inspection. There is no user-replaceable battery and no parts catalog; the speaker is not designed for owner servicing. The product launched in March 2026, so long-term reliability data does not exist yet.
Is it worth it?
Soundcore and Anker list the Boom Go 3i at $79.99. At that price it faces the JBL Clip 5 at $80 — lighter at 285 g, with a built-in carabiner and two years of proven reviews, but half the power (7W), IP67 instead of IP68, no power bank, no lighting and no display. The Boom Go 3i’s advantages are double the wattage, the higher water rating, the power bank, the RGB lighting and the digital display. If you want more bass and output, the larger Soundcore Boom 3i is $129.99, and the JBL Flip 7 is $149.95. The Boom Go 3i suits buyers who prioritize ruggedness, battery life and features over sound quality or call capability.
