Summary

Full-size Bluetooth noise-cancelling headphones from Soundcore (Anker), built around a five-segment headband that folds small for travel. Check two things before buying: owners report the headband cracking between six months and a year, and Soundcore lists the newer Space 2 at $129.99 (October 2026).

Strengths

  • RTINGS and SoundGuys both praise isolation against airplane and office noise.
  • The FlexiCurve fold packs the headphones down; TechRadar calls it a compelling commuter feature.
  • RTINGS measured 36.1 hours of battery, and the 3.5-mm cable plays with the battery dead.
  • SoundGuys rates the ANC 8.5/10; TechRadar likes the deep, engaging bass and full vocals.
  • Genuine replacement ear cushions are sold by Soundcore at $29.99, so worn pads can be replaced.

Weaknesses

  • Owners in r/soundcore report the headband cracking after six months to a year of use.
  • The default sound is dark and bass-heavy; SoundGuys measured an intense bass elevation and a 6 kHz treble peak.
  • RTINGS’ call tests found speech can become unintelligible against sustained loud noise.
  • There is no verified water-resistance rating, and sealed memory-foam cushions left one owner’s ears hot on cool-weather walks.
  • On multipoint, the last source to start audio takes priority, so app notifications can steal playback.
  • The box holds a soft pouch only; there is no rigid case, and Soundcore sells no hinge or headband repair part.

Sound and noise cancelling

Neither test promises the same decibel reduction for every voice, room or earpad seal. The default tuning is the dividing line: RTINGS calls it dark and bass-heavy with pushed-back vocals, SoundGuys measured an intense bass elevation and an uneven treble with a peak near 6 kHz, while TechRadar liked the deep bass on bass-heavy music. Plan on time in the app EQ if you want neutrality.

The folding headband

The five-segment FlexiCurve headband and rotating cups (up to 180°) pull the headphones into a package Soundcore claims is 50% smaller. TechRadar’s hands-on called the fold a compelling commuter feature. The maker also claims the hinge survived 10,000 durability-test cycles, but there is no published failure threshold, sample size or real-world survival interval, so treat that as marketing until owners say otherwise. Folding follows a specific left/right rotation sequence; forcing it the other way risks mechanical stress.

Headband failures and repair

This is the Pro-specific risk to weigh. A r/soundcore owner reported on May 4, 2026 that their Space One Pro headband broke after about a year; another reported a cracked headband mount on October 8, 2026, and an April 22, 2026 comment described a break after six months of light use. Many posts concern the standard Space One or Q30, which are different hardware. The picture is mixed: a February 2026 owner praised the build after several months, and a March 2026 commenter with a larger head said their Pro hinges had not broken.

Nobody has published a failure rate, so treat cracking as a real, recurring risk rather than a guaranteed defect. There is no sanctioned hinge-repair kit or part number; one owner glued a cracked mount and was unsure it would hold, and others describe warranty replacements after sending the unit in. A May 2026 owner also reported ANC popping in a moving car; a reset helped temporarily and the symptom returned, with no confirmed root cause.

Battery, parts and running costs

The maker claims 40 hours with ANC on and 60 off; RTINGS measured 36.1 hours under its own test, and the five-minute fast charge is an optimistic claim, not a guarantee at every volume and codec. There are no required subscriptions, and USB-C charging keeps running costs near zero: at an illustrative 10 Wh per recharge and 70 recharges a year, charging draws about 0.7 kWh a year, roughly $0.18 at $0.25/kWh. Genuine ear cushions are $29.99 direct from Soundcore (October 2026) — the listing does not say whether that is one cushion or a pair — and on a hypothetical two-year replacement cycle that allocates about $15 a year. The optional travel case (A3062Z11-97) is $34.99; spread over five years, about $7 a year. Soundcore’s US policy covers quality defects for 18 months, and a covered claim may end in a factory-refurbished replacement rather than new. A factory reset (Power + Volume Up held five seconds until the LEDs flash red, white and blue) clears pairing and ANC gremlines; it will not fix a cracked hinge.

Is it worth it?

Checked October 19, 2026: Soundcore direct lists the Pro at $199.99, Walmart (sold by AnkerDirect) at $169.99 new, and Best Buy’s product detail at $199.99; Best Buy also lists a refurbished white unit at $129.99. The research’s price guidance: $110–130 new is an exceptional deal, $131–150 is appealing for the fold, $151–170 is fair only if the FlexiCurve fold matters to you, and above $170 the $129.99 Space 2 is better value for most travelers, per RTINGS’ comparison. The Space 2 also advertises 50 hours with ANC on (70 off) and a 264 g body; the original Space One is $99.99 with simpler folding. If the ultra-compact fold and deep bass are what you want, the Pro at Walmart’s $169.99 is defensible — with the headband reports in mind.
