Summary

A cordless hard-floor tool that vacuums and spray-mops in a single pass using disposable pads with a built-in dirt chamber. It works only on sealed hard floors and runs for about 13 minutes, so check that your cleaning area fits before you buy.

Strengths

  • Vacuum and spray-mop in one pass, so a spill needs one tool rather than two.
  • Light at 3.34 lbs and easy to steer around furniture and under edges.
  • No-touch pad release keeps your hands off the dirt.
  • Owners report it pulls up pet hair well on hard floors.
  • The magnetic charger is quick to dock.
  • Good for quick cleanups and small spaces.

Weaknesses

  • Runtime of about 13 minutes is spot-cleaning only, not a whole-home clean.
  • Disposable pads and Shark-brand solution are a recurring cost.
  • Owners report the spray button clicking without dispensing after months of use.
  • Suction is light-debris only and will not replace a full vacuum.
  • It cannot clean carpets or rugs, and it will not stand upright on its own.
  • The battery is not user-replaceable.

Runtime and charging

Shark rates the 10.8 V battery at up to 13 minutes of continuous vacuuming and about 3.5 hours to charge. Kohls puts runtime at 12.5 minutes, and a Reader’s Digest tester who used the VM252 about three times a week for two years called it roughly 15 minutes. Treat the figure as manufacturer-claimed either way. Thirteen minutes is enough for a kitchen or a hallway; it is not a whole-home clean.

Pads, solution and running costs

Pads and solution are the ongoing cost. Home Depot listed the VM252 at $99.99 in October 2026 and DK Hardware shows $151.28, while Reader’s Digest noted a $99.99 regular price and a $59.99 sale back in 2021. Consumables add up: a Reddit user estimated about $157 for the first year with weekly use, based on $10 per cleaner refill and $48 for 60 pads. Pads sell in multi-packs at Home Depot, and Shark recommends its own solution, since vinegar and other cleaners can damage the spray system or leave streaks.

Spray mechanism and upkeep

The most common failure report is the spray button clicking without dispensing any liquid after months of use. Shark’s guidance is to clean the nozzle, which owners say does not always fix it. There is no brush roll, bag or filter to replace, though owners mention rinsing a foam filter inside the unit to keep suction up even though retailer copy says no maintenance is needed. The battery is not user-replaceable, and the unit cannot stand on its own, so plan where it will hang.

Is it worth it?

Under $80 the VM252 is strong value for a hard-floor-only home that wants a grab-and-go tool. From $81 to $100 it is fair: a Swiffer-type spray mop costs less to run but gives up the suction. Above $100 the math gets worse, and above $130 the pad and solution costs are hard to justify against a cordless wet-dry vacuum with a longer runtime and reusable pads. If you have carpets anywhere, this is the wrong tool.

Which model this is

This page covers the VM252 in charcoal gray, UPC 622356562041, part of the VM200/VM250 VACMOP Pro family. The listing ASIN is B084BS1J9K. Do not confuse it with the older non-Pro VM250 or with Shark’s upright and robot vacuums. Retailer spec sheets list an assembled weight of 3.34 lbs, Reader’s Digest says 3.4 lbs and a product brief says 3.99 lbs.
