Shark IZ362H: problems, parts and running costs
Checked: 2026-10-30
Summary
The IZ362H is a 7.17 lb cordless stick with a removable 21.6 V battery, HEPA filtration and a non-removable PowerFins brushroll; the main ownership issues are short real runtime on carpet or Boost, cat litter kicked backward on hard floors, a brushroll that cannot be removed for cleaning, and a top-heavy body that will not stand on its own. Mandatory yearly running cost is $0 because the filters are washable, with an illustrative electricity figure of $0.43 per year at one full charge a week. It is a good buy at $150 or less from an authorized dealer; above $250, compare the Shark PowerPro Flex Reveal IZ382H at $199.99 direct from Shark.
Common problems and fixes
- Runtime far below the 40-minute claim on carpet or Boost — the 40 minutes is a handheld low-power best case; RTINGS measured about 14 minutes minimum and about 41 minutes maximum on the related IZ361H with the same 1900 mAh battery, and Shark acknowledges lithium capacity declines with age. Fix: charge fully, clean filters and airways, cut Boost use; buy an XSBT620 only if capacity is gone, or add a second battery. Normal battery wear, not a confirmed defect. [1][3][7]
- Cat litter and hard particles kicked backward on hard floors — one IZ362H owner reported in August 2026 that the PowerFins head pushed cat litter behind it on hardwood after about a year of ownership; they otherwise liked the cordless convenience for a small house. Workaround: use the crevice tool, try the bare-floor setting and go slower. [12][2]
- Non-removable PowerFins brushroll is hard to clean — RTINGS found the family’s brushroll not removable, so wrapped hair and grit are harder to clear than on vacuums with removable rollers. Clearing means undoing the nozzle cover locks on the related unit and cleaning the floor nozzle and airway with power removed; do not wash the motorized head. [3][2]
- Will not stand fully assembled — the full assembly is top-heavy with no independent upright support; detach the handheld body and park it on the lower wand hook. [2][3]
- Low pickup in cracks and crevices — RTINGS’ related IZ361H test found low floorhead suction in recessed joints because the nozzle did not seal closely to the floor; the supplied crevice tool mitigates it. Exact IZ362H values were not independently measured. [3]
- Blockage or thermal shutoff — weak suction or shutoff calls for removing the battery, emptying the cup, rinsing and fully drying filters, and clearing the floor nozzle, wand and motor intake before assuming a fault. [2]
- Plastic dust cup vulnerable to impacts — RTINGS judged the analogous IZ361H reasonably sturdy but thought its transparent plastic cup vulnerable to impacts. [3]
- Warranty is limited and excludes wear — five-year limited machine warranty for the original owner from an authorized retailer, two years on the replacement battery; filters and normal wear, misuse, unauthorized repair and some shipping costs may fall outside coverage. [1][7][14]
Parts and consumables

- HEPA post-motor filter XHF161H — $20.99 at SharkNinja; compatible with IZ362H. Rinse at least annually, dry at least 24 hours; replace only when damaged or ineffective. [6][2]
- Removable battery XSBT620 — $86.99 at SharkNinja direct, $34.99 for an “OEM” example at ShopJimmy; included with the vacuum. Replace when runtime no longer meets needs; no fixed interval. Two-year part warranty. [7][9][2]

Yearly running cost
No bags or disposable cartridges. Washable filters make the mandatory recurring cost $0 per year. Replacing one pre-motor kit and one HEPA filter in the same year would cost $37.98 before tax and shipping, but yearly replacement is not required. Shark charges up to $10 shipping on individual orders under $99. Electricity: the battery stores 21.6 V × 1.9 Ah = 41.04 Wh; one empty pack recharged weekly for 52 weeks stores 2.13 kWh per year, $0.43 at an assumed $0.20 per kWh; daily full charges store about 14.98 kWh per year. These are stored-energy scenarios, not measured wall bills. A battery replacement costs $86.99 if needed, but it is not an annual fee.
When it is a good buy
Observed asking prices for the IZ362H run from $199.99 to $349.99, with established pages clustered around $275 to $350. SharkNinja displays $349.99 with a back-in-stock notice; treat that as a published manufacturer price, not proof of immediate availability. A Best Buy Marketplace listing showed $274.99 sold and shipped by Esquared Trading, and a Walmart Marketplace offer showed about $288.22 from Esquared Shop; both are marketplace sellers, so check authorized-reseller status and return terms before relying on Shark’s warranty. A PzDeals listing at $199.99 is a low-confidence advertised offer with unverified authorization and condition. Editorial thresholds: $150 or less new from an authorized dealer is excellent value; $151 to $199 is worthwhile if new, complete and fully warrantied; $200 to $249 is acceptable mainly for a buyer who specifically wants the removable battery and HEPA combination; above $250, compare newer alternatives; above $300 is hard to justify unless a specific repair, return or availability requirement changes the equation.
Named alternatives:
- Shark PowerPro Flex Reveal IZ382H — $199.99 direct from Shark with FloorDetect automatic floor recognition, a reveal light, a flexible wand and up to 50 minutes of claimed runtime. Better when paying over $200 for the IZ362H and you want newer convenience features; verify head, filters and battery separately before treating it as a direct swap. [15][1]
- Shark PowerDetect Cordless IP1251 — $279.99 on sale with automatic dirt, floor, edge and direction detection and up to 70 minutes of claimed runtime. Better when shopping around $275 anyway and you want more modern automation and longer maximum runtime. [15]
