Summary
A premium tall-backed gaming chair in Small, Regular and XL with a built-in 4-way lumbar, 165-degree recline, magnetic head pillow and user-replaceable CloudSwap armrests. Check your size before buying: there is no seat-depth adjustment, and the leatherette runs hot.
Strengths
- Wirecutter (NYT) names the TITAN Evo its top-pick gaming chair.
- Tom’s Guide gives it Editor’s Choice and calls it the best gaming chair for the price.
- PCMag rates it Outstanding.
- WIRED gives it 7/10 “WIRED Recommends.”
- TechGearLab scores it 8.0/10, ranked #3 of 10 tested.
- 4-way L-ADAPT lumbar, magnetic head pillow, user-replaceable CloudSwap armrests, 165-degree recline, three sizes up to 205 cm and 180 kg, and a BIFMA-tested wheelbase.
Weaknesses
- Cold-cure foam is very firm and was jarring at first for WIRED’s reviewer.
- NEO Hybrid Leatherette is not breathable; back sweat within an hour on hot days, with no airflow gap at the lower back.
- Recline lever can stick and ratchet suddenly when leaning back while pulling it.
- No seat-depth adjustment, so choosing among S, R and XL matters more than on office chairs.
- Owner reports of armrest wear, gas-piston failure and seat-base bracket breakage after 3–5 years.
- 5-year warranty requires owner action (sharing a photo of the chair) to get the free 2-year extension.

Full research notes and sources
Build and adjustability
The TITAN Evo consolidates Secretlab’s earlier TITAN and OMEGA lines into one 2022 series offered in Small, Regular and XL. The headline hardware is the 4-way L-ADAPT lumbar built into the backrest with left/right dials for height and curvature, locking 4D armrests with magnetic CloudSwap tops, a multi-tilt mechanism with 85–165 degrees of recline and tilt lock, a class-4 gas piston, a steel frame and an ADC12 aluminum wheelbase. Reviewers single out the lumbar, the magnetic cooling-gel head pillow that needs no strap, and the locking armrests; WIRED notes the adjustability falls slightly short of high-end office chairs such as the Steelcase Leap. There is no seat-depth adjustment, so the three size bands need to be matched to the rider.
Comfort and heat
The NEO Hybrid Leatherette is not breathable — within an hour on a hot day the reviewer’s lower back was drenched, with no airflow gap at the lower back. The magnetic head pillow carries cooling gel. Buyers who run hot or prefer softer seats should compare alternatives; WIRED frames the decision as a refurbished high-end office chair versus a brand-new Secretlab depending on how much the gaming aesthetic is worth.
Long-term ownership
Owner reports are mixed. A 6-year TITAN owner reports zero complaints and can sit for 20 hours straight. A 5-year owner reports assembly under 15 minutes, a surviving backrest and wheels, and responsive customer service, but also a broken out-of-box armrest (replaced under warranty), a wire poking through seat upholstery, gas-piston failure at about 3 years with roughly $150 out-of-warranty replacement, a broken mounting bracket at about 4 years causing a forward lurch, oil leakage at about 5 years, cracking armrest plastic and a lumbar knob that will not stay fixed. A second owner reports the metal plate under the seat base that holds the armrest assembly breaking off just after warranty expiry, with others in the thread confirming the same failure; Secretlab offered only a paid replacement. PCMag notes CloudSwap mitigates armrest wear, since tops are user-replaceable. These are anecdotes, not defect rates.
Repairability is a relative strength: CloudSwap armrest tops are magnetic and user-replaceable, and Secretlab sells spare parts including CloudSwap armrests, casters, magnetic head pillow and lumbar pillow. Out-of-warranty repairs reported include roughly $150 for a gas piston and roughly $184 CAD for a seat base, with replacement armrest tops around $20 apiece. Maintenance is limited to wiping the leatherette; Secretlab publishes aftercare guides, and the NEO material is engineered for high ambient humidity and heat.
US current: the Stealth NEO Hybrid Leatherette lists at $579 on the US product page. 2025 sale coverage shows $499 (July 2025) and $479 (Black Friday 2025). Launch and older US pricing: $429 small / $449 regular / $499 XL for the PU-leather variant (July 2021), $534 small / $549 regular / $584 XL (July 2021 IGN), $484 starting price (December 2022), $549 MSRP (PCMag, 2022) and $659 (TechGearLab, 2023). UK sale coverage shows Stealth XL at GBP 489 (from GBP 539) and GBP 419 versus GBP 469 compare-at. Optional extras include leather wipes at $20 in a 2025 sale listing.
At the 2025 sale prices of $479–499 the case is stronger; at $579–659 the buyer pays a premium for adjustability, three-size fit, the 5-year warranty (with owner action for the extension) and genuinely user-replaceable armrests. The evidence base is editorial and experiential rather than instrumented: no lab measurements of foam density, recline-cycle endurance or leatherette abrasion were found.
Which model this is
This page covers the Secretlab TITAN Evo (2022 series) in the Stealth colorway with NEO Hybrid Leatherette upholstery — a black finish with red and gold stitching and carbon-fiber-effect panels. It is sold in Small, Regular and XL. Do not merge it with the TITAN Evo NanoGen Edition (NanoGen Hybrid Leatherette, rated 14x durability), the older 2020 TITAN and OMEGA lines, or the newer ATLAS and T1 lines. The 14x durability figure belongs to the NanoGen Edition; NEO Hybrid Leatherette is rated 12x by Secretlab.
