REOLINK OMVI 3i: problems, parts and running costs

Checked: 2026-10-19

Summary

The REOLINK OMVI 3i PoE is a triple-lens pan-tilt security camera that pairs a 10MP 180-degree panoramic upper camera with an 8MP pan-tilt lower camera for 360-degree coverage from one PoE-powered mounting point. The main problems owners report are SyncTrack lag, early firmware bugs, AI false positives and a confusing app, plus a mounting angle that can ruin the panoramic image at night. There is no mandatory cloud subscription, so keeping it running costs only a microSD card and the electricity the camera draws. It is a compelling single-point coverage option at or below about $280 for the WiFi variant, with no confirmed US PoE price.

Parts and consumables

Yearly running cost

Core use has no recurring fee: recording to microSD, an NVR or NAS needs no subscription, and PoE carries power over the same Ethernet cable. Reolink cloud storage is available as an option but is not required for core functionality. No electricity, card-replacement or subscription figure is given, so a typical yearly total cannot be computed.

When it is a good buy

The WiFi variant lists at $279.99 US MSRP (T3, Aug 2026) with a regular price of $329.99 and a street price of $296.99 (The Ambient, Sep 2026); the PoE model’s MSRP is A$429.99 (Digital Reviews Network, Jul 2026), and no US PoE price was confirmed from retail sources.
