Summary
The REOLINK E1 Pro is a budget indoor pan-tilt camera built around local microSD recording with no subscription required. Before you buy, confirm which hardware revision the listing ships — the same model name has covered both 4MP and 5MP sensors.
Strengths
- Video quality holds up under lab testing: Consumer Reports called daytime footage “as sharp and clear as we’ve seen” and nighttime “excellent”.
- Local microSD recording with no subscription, plus RTSP, RTMP and ONVIF on the protocol list.
- Dual-band Wi-Fi and a 10/100 Ethernet port on the current generation.
- Person, pet and crying detection, and it works with Alexa and Google Assistant.
- Direct NAS integration with Synology, QNAP and ASUSTOR surveillance stations.
- 2-year limited warranty.
Weaknesses
- Motion detection as a security trigger is the most common complaint in owner reports.
- The model name covers two hardware generations with different sensors, dimensions and Ethernet presence.
- Owners in r/reolinkcam report recurring microSD card corruption.
- The camera can be unreachable from a different VLAN or subnet.
- Consumer Reports rates Reolink’s data privacy “sub-standard” on control and transparency.
- No microSD card in the box.

Detection and alerts
Consumer Reports measured alert delivery at 3.4 seconds on average and rated the camera’s data security “very good”. The weak point is detection logic. A review on Reolink’s own product page says the camera is “excellent to watch your pets or kids indoor but as a security camera for motion detection, just forget it”. Reolink publishes a dedicated support article for motion-sensor false alarms, which marks this as a recognized problem category rather than a one-off. Auto tracking follows pan only; a subject that moves vertically out of frame is not followed.
One name, two hardware generations
This is the fact that should drive the purchase. Reolink’s April 2025 spec sheet describes the E1 Pro as a 2K 4MP camera with 8 IR LEDs; the current spec sheet describes a 5MP camera with 10 IR LEDs, an RJ45 port, 84 × 118 mm and 235 g. Windows Central’s 2021 hands-on measured a 4MP unit at 76 × 106 mm and noted there was no Ethernet connection. Consumer Reports tested a 2560 × 1440 unit. The marketing name never changed when the hardware did, so “E1 Pro” alone is not a purchase specification — check whether the listing’s sensor reads 2880 × 1616 (5 MP) or 2560 × 1440 (4 MP). The “3K” in some listings is a marketing label, not a resolution standard.
Setup, storage and running costs
The microSD card is not included, and an r/smarthome reviewer recommends at least 256 GB. Power comes from the included 5V/1A DC adapter — there is no PoE — and the camera is indoor-only. The default main-stream bitrate of 3072 Kbps fills a card quickly; Reolink’s “up to 16 days” of continuous recording is a manufacturer estimate, not an independent measurement. Local recording needs no subscription; Reolink Cloud is an optional extra.
Is it worth it?
Reolink’s own US store lists the E1 Pro at $64.99. At that price it suits someone who wants local-only recording, dual-band Wi-Fi and NAS support without a subscription, and who confirms which revision is shipping. In the $65-80 range competing pan-tilt cameras add 360-degree coverage and spotlights, and above $80 the value is weak for this class — Reolink’s own E1 Outdoor Pro is advertised at $149.99 with 4K and Wi-Fi 6. The 2-year warranty and documented RTSP/ONVIF support are the strongest reasons to choose it.
Which model this is
This page covers the REOLINK E1 Pro indoor pan-tilt camera. The Amazon listing is ASIN B07THQDSBD. Reolink has sold both 4 MP and 5 MP hardware under this name, so a listing that does not state its sensor resolution is underspecified. The E1, E1 Zoom and E1 Outdoor are separate models and are not covered here.
