Summary

A full-size, 17 mm-thick wireless mechanical keyboard with tri-mode connectivity and a $69.99 direct price. Check the switch choice before buying: the Outemu low-profile switches are proprietary with a non-standard pinout, so the feel you pick (Red, Blue, or Brown) is locked in.

Strengths

  • Tri-mode connectivity switching among up to 5 devices.
  • Dedicated media keys and a volume wheel.
  • Onboard macro recording without software.
  • Quiet low-profile switches suited to office use.
  • Responsive customer service reported by owners.

Weaknesses

  • Keys feel loose and easy to typo due to 40-45 gf actuation.
  • Occasional double character input, often the “s” key.
  • Short sleep timeout causes frequent wake-ups.
  • 2.4 GHz performance is inconsistent across units.
  • Build feels cheap; secondary markings fade and RGB is uneven.
  • Switch ecosystem is locked; third-party switches do not fit.

Typing feel and switches

The switches are proprietary Outemu low-profile units: Red linear at 45 gf, Blue tactile at 55 gf, Brown tactile at 45 gf, with a 1.2 mm actuation point and 3.0 mm travel, rated for 50 million keystrokes. The pinout is non-standard, so the switch choice is locked at purchase and third-party switches do not fit. Aftermarket low-profile keycaps are also hard to source, though the standard bottom row helps with normal keycaps.

Wireless and battery

Tri-mode connectivity covers Bluetooth 5.0 for up to three devices, a 2.4 GHz dongle and USB-C wired. Bluetooth can fall back to 3.0 on some hosts, increasing lag. The 1900 mAh battery is rated for 30 h; measured life was about 22 h with LEDs on and about 28 h on the 2.4 GHz dongle. With RGB active, some owners report below-claim battery life and keystrokes not registering in wireless mode. The sleep timeout is short enough that owners report constant wake-ups; no exact value was published.

Build and software

RGB is bright but uneven, with one key mismatched in static mode and secondary white markings fading out of the box. Keycap height is reported as 4 mm by Techaeris and lolvvv and 7 mm double-shot by High Ground Gaming, a discrepancy possibly from outer versus effective height. Software is Windows-only, requires a wired connection, and is a simple RGB and macro tool; profiles and effects are stored on board. There is no wrist rest in the box.

Is it worth it?

Redragon lists the keyboard at $69.99 on redragonshop.com, with a GHOST15 code advertised for 15% off, and Techaeris cited an MSRP of $79.99 at review time in March 2022. High Ground Gaming also cited $79.99 in December 2021. Between about $70-80 it is still good value; above roughly $80-90 the locked switch ecosystem and build-quality complaints weigh more heavily. The main differentiator is form factor, price and feature list, not switch quality.

Which model this is

This page covers the Redragon HORUS K618, sold as a full-size 104-key low-profile tri-mode keyboard in Blue, Brown and Red low-profile switch variants. Retailers and the manufacturer use the model name K618; search results mention a “K618 PRO” but it was not verified as a revision of this model, so it is not merged here. Do not confuse it with Redragon’s K631, K530 or other low-profile boards. The manufacturer’s product-download page hosts the user guide PDF and Windows software.
