QIDI Plus5: problems, parts and running costs

Checked: 2026-10-19

Summary

The QIDI Plus5 is a large-format enclosed CoreXY 3D printer (320×320×300 mm) with a 550 W chamber heater holding up to 65°C, built for ABS, PC, PA and carbon-fiber filaments at a consumer price. [1] What usually goes wrong is the optional QIDI Box multi-color system — Tom’s Hardware says it “still doesn’t work” — plus awkward rear filament loading and chamber-heat clogs with PLA and PETG. [3][5][8] Running costs are filament, electricity (190 W steady-state on PLA, 500 W on ABS), replacement air filters and replacement nozzles; at $749 from QIDI’s US store it is a compelling buy for engineering filaments, with long-term reliability unknown since the printer launched in August 2026. Yearly running cost

The sources do not publish prices for replacement filters, nozzles or electricity rates, so no total yearly figure can be computed from them. What a typical owner buys: filament as the main cost; replacement air-filter cartridges; replacement nozzles when printing abrasive carbon-fiber materials; and electricity — the printer draws 190 W steady-state on PLA and 500 W on ABS, from a maximum of 150 W main + 550 W chamber + 500 W bed. No subscription is mentioned for the printer; QIDI Studio ships on the included USB stick. [1][5][9]
