Pure Enrichment MistAire Eva (PEHUMEVA): problems, parts and running costs

Checked: 2026-10-13

Summary

The Eva is a 2.8 L evaporative humidifier for rooms up to 500 sq ft with four fan speeds, a 2/4/8-hour timer and a 5-year warranty. The concrete drawbacks are the missing humidistat, a filter that must be replaced every six months, and mold risk if cleaning lapses. Yearly running cost is two filters at $19.99 each, plus electricity that cannot be computed because wattage is not published.

Common problems and fixes

Filter replacement every six months — the antibacterial wick filter, model PEHUMFIL, is a scheduled consumable, not a one-time part. Pure Enrichment publishes no longevity data for the antibacterial coating, and no third party has verified it. [1][2]
Mold and slimy water if cleaning lapses — owners of other MistAire models, the ultrasonic ones, have reported orange-yellow growth and slimy water in the tank; no Eva-specific complaints were found, but the same hygiene rules apply. Empty and dry the tank and replace the wick on schedule. Pure Enrichment does not publish a cleaning interval for the Eva. [5]
No published performance figures — evaporation rate, noise level, dimensions and wattage are all unpublished, and no independent instrumented test of this exact model exists. The only third-party testing on record covers other MistAire models, so real-world output and noise are unknown. [3][4]
Tank capacity conflict — product data lists a 2.8 L tank, but the manufacturer page did not confirm it, and Lowe’s lists a Pure Enrichment MistAire 1-Gallon tabletop unit for rooms up to 500 sq ft; 1 gallon is 3.78 L. Treat the capacity as unconfirmed until the manufacturer spec sheet is checked. [1][8]

Parts and consumables

Wick filter, model PEHUMFIL — $19.99 from Pure Enrichment (2026), replaced every six months, so two a year. The filter traps dust and pollen as it works. [1][2]

Yearly running cost

Two PEHUMFIL filters a year at $19.99 each is the only scheduled recurring cost. There is no subscription. Electricity cannot be included: wattage is not published, so a yearly total is not computable from the sources.

When it is a good buy

Pure Enrichment lists the Eva at $89.99 direct and Home Depot at $79.99 (2026-10-13). At $79.99 it is the more defensible pick; at $89.99 it sits at the premium end for an evaporative humidifier of this size and is justified mainly by the 5-year warranty, the 500 sq ft coverage and mist-free operation. If a humidistat matters more than warranty length, evaporative rivals such as Honeywell and Vornado cover similar rooms for less and include one.
