PULITUO'S 20V Cordless Drill/Driver: problems, parts and running costs
Checked: 2026-10-16
Summary
The recurring complaints are weak torque under load, a 3/8-inch chuck that limits larger bits, and generic included bits; the same-brand battery platform is not proven to fit this drill. There are no scheduled consumables, and running cost is close to zero beyond electricity. At $30 or less for a sealed two-battery kit with real returns it is an excellent buy, but above about $55 the $59.99 BLACK+DECKER BCD702C1 is the better value.
Common problems and fixes
- Weak torque under load — a September 2024 Reddit commenter found a Pulituo 20V-type drill weaker than a Black+Decker and bogging under load, and a May 2026 Walmart buyer gave the yellow 119-piece version one star for weak power; the seller offered order-specific troubleshooting. No measured stall torque is published. [14][8]
- Battery may not fit across same-brand tools — a June 2026 Walmart buyer said a $19.99 Pulituo 20V 1.5 Ah leaf-blower battery did not fit their blower, and the seller asked for the tool model; do not assume any Pulituo 20V pack fits this drill. [9]
- Generic, low-grade included bits — the maker’s own site quotes a testimonial that the bits “aren’t amazing”; budget for quality drill and driver bits. [1]
- 3/8-inch chuck limits accessory size — large-shank drills and some hole-saw mandrels need a different tool or smaller-shank arbor; it is not a 1/2-inch drill. [2]
- Misleading piece counts — a 119-piece set is not 119 cutting bits, and the 238-piece pink bundle uses a different drill rated 310 in-lb with 0–300/0–1400 rpm; check photographed contents and battery count. [4][10]
- Overheating under prolonged heavy work — the manual warns about blocked motor vents and continuous heavy operation and recommends cooling; no thermal test data is published. [2]
- No confirmed safety listing or parts channel — no UL/ETL listing, battery pinout or stocked parts portal was found; the brand site delegates warranty claims to the marketplace seller. [1][2]
Parts and consumables
- Two 1.5 Ah 20V lithium-ion batteries — included with the documented DC7720S kit; no stamped part number is published. If a pack fails, get the exact replacement SKU from the original seller and check connector shape and polarity. [1][2]
- PULITUO 20V 1.5 Ah leaf-blower battery — $19.99 at Walmart (June 2026), sold for a blower and not verified for this drill; a buyer reported it did not fit their blower. Treat as an indicative same-brand price only. [9]
- Charger — included with the kit; no confirmed model number, US voltage label or tested charge time for the 1.5 Ah packs. The maker’s 90-minute figure refers to a 2.0 Ah pack. [1][2]
- Included bits (4, 5, 6 and 8 mm wood and twist bits, 20 driver bits, extension, flexible shaft) — listed in the manual-like bill of materials; no OEM accessory part-number or wear interval is published. [2]
Yearly running cost
No subscription and no scheduled consumable. Charging both 1.5 Ah packs about 50 times a year works out to roughly 3.86 kWh, or about $0.77 at $0.20 per kWh, using an assumed 18 V nominal and 70% efficiency; treat that as an illustration, not a measurement. Bits wear with use and batteries age with cycles, time and temperature, and there is no published replacement schedule for the motor or gearbox. If a usable pack can no longer be sourced, a $35–$45 kit becomes disposable, which is a serviceability risk rather than a proven failure age. [1][2][4]
When it is a good buy
Walmart has listed the 119-piece set from $35.98 to $44.99, the Greenbag 39-piece at $62.99, the 199-piece toolbox around $79.99–$89.99 and the 120-piece variant at $89.99; NSX Distribution indexed a green 34-piece kit at $43.99 and WoodArtSupply showed a small green kit at $34.99 but marked it unavailable (October 2026). [3][4][5][6][7][13]
- At $30 or less: excellent for a sealed two-battery DC7720S with real returns.
- $31–$40: a good casual buy.
- $41–$50: reasonable if the seller supports it.
- Above about $55: the maths changes, since a BLACK+DECKER BCD702C1 is $59.99 at Home Depot with a replaceable battery platform and a Ryobi ONE+ PCL206K1 is $89.00 with a 1/2-inch chuck and a broad tool family. [11][12]
- $70–$90 for the bare-drill purpose is unattractive next to the $89 Ryobi.
