Summary
A 1.75 mm PLA spool from Prusa Polymers with ±0.02 mm diameter tolerance and per-spool batch measurements, sold at $29.99 standard and $23.99 on promotion. Check your printer’s spool holder and AMS clearance before buying: the full-size spool needs an adapter for Bambu AMS and the 2 kg spool may not fit standard holders.
Strengths
- ±0.02 mm diameter tolerance, tighter than most budget PLA.
- Per-spool QR code publishes measured diameter, ovality, weight and color for that batch.
- In-house extrusion gives consistent color batch to batch.
- Clean surface finish, good bridging and overhangs, minimal stringing at 215 °C.
- Vacuum-sealed packaging with desiccant in a reusable box.
- Works on any 1.75 mm FDM printer with generic PLA presets.
Weaknesses
- Premium price versus budget PLA: $29.99 standard, $23.99 on promotion.
- Color-specific finish caveats on other colors (Galaxy Black glitter, Azure Blue banding) show color matters, though Anthracite Grey is a standard color.
- AMS needs an adapter for the full-size spool; 2 kg spools may not fit standard holders.
- Mild moisture sensitivity: dry at 45-50 °C for 4-8 h if wet.
- No filament-specific warranty or return terms found on manufacturer pages.
- Not food-safe, low UV resistance, not for outdoor or heat-loaded parts (HDT 55 °C).

Print settings
Start at 215 °C nozzle and 50-60 °C bed with 0.4 mm brass, 100% cooling and up to 200 mm/s. The datasheet lists 210 ± 10 °C nozzle and 40-60 °C bed, while third-party guides suggest 215-235 °C nozzle and 50-60 °C bed, so treat 210-215 °C nozzle and 50-60 °C bed as the starting point. PrusaSlicer profiles are tuned for the material. Initial stringing at lower temperatures stabilizes around 5 mm retraction at 215 °C. Independent testing reports minimal stringing at 215 °C, excellent bridging and overhangs, perfect first layers and readable Benchy lettering, with measured diameter variation under 0.01 mm across sample points. No enclosure is required for PLA.
Material properties
Density 1.24 g/cm³, HDT 55 °C and tensile yield 57 ± 1 MPa on the filament (51 ± 3 MPa printed horizontal, 59 ± 2 MPa vertical). Flexural strength 83/99 MPa, Charpy impact 13/14 kJ/m², Shore D hardness 81. Decomposition at 250 °C, so avoid overheating. Strength drops above 60 °C, which rules it out for heat-loaded or outdoor parts. Print-technology reports a failure rate under 1% versus 5-10% for generic PLA in their own testing across MK4, Bambu X1 and Ender 3 V2. One color-specific caveat: Azure Blue showed uneven color on broad surfaces and ironing worsened it; that does not apply to Anthracite Grey.
Storage and drying
Store dry and cool at 5-30 °C, well ventilated, protected from moisture, with a maximum one year from manufacture; use a desiccant bag for longer storage. If wet, dry at 45 °C for 4-6 h or 50 °C for 4-8 h. Moisture absorption is 0.13% over 24 h and 0.19% over 7 d at 24 °C and 22% humidity. A separate Galaxy Black batch issue (Czech-made spools produced March 13 to May 13, 2026) with incorrect mix and clogging does not apply to Anthracite Grey or to US-made spools.
Is it worth it?
At the promotional $23.99 it is strong value for accuracy-critical and finish-critical prints. At the standard $29.99 it is good value when dimensional accuracy, color consistency or traceability matter, and overkill for throwaway drafts. Above $30 with shipping, compare budget PLA such as Hatchbox or eSUN for hobby and decorative prints. The differentiator is the ±0.02 mm tolerance plus per-spool QR batch data plus in-house color consistency, not the “premium” label. Printed Solid ships from a Delaware warehouse with free shipping over $50.
Which model this is
This page covers the 1.75 mm Anthracite Grey spool, 1 kg, manufactured by Prusa Polymers a.s. in Prague, Czech Republic, with production also in Delaware, USA. The product page title does not include “Premium” even though the material is described as premium-grade and some retailers use “Premium PLA”. It is distinct from Prusament PLA Blend, Prusament PLA High Speed and Prusament PLA Lightweight, which are separate formulas. The Amazon listing is ASIN B0GP73RK4Y. New 900 g coreless refills fit the redesigned October 2025 spool; older 1 kg cardboard-core refills do not fit the redesigned spool.
