Summary
A 19-inch folding electric griddle for people who cook for a crowd and need the griddle to store in a cabinet, with a 254 sq in PFAS-free ceramic surface and a tilt lever that drains meat fat. No instrumented test of this exact model exists, so weigh the owner heat reports and the hand-wash-only cleaning before you buy.
Strengths
- Folds flat to fit most standard 18-inch cabinets, and the drip tray locks in place when the legs are folded.
- Two functions most griddles lack: a tilt lever that drains meat grease into the tray and level cooking for eggs and pancakes.
- 254 sq in of PFAS-free ceramic surface; owners report six large pancakes at a time.
- Batch size and long service life: owners describe units still working after two, five and twenty years.
- The whole body immerses in water once the heat control is removed, so cleanup is hands-on but not fiddly.
Weaknesses
- No instrumented test of stock no. 07073 was found; the published thermocouple numbers are for sibling models.
- Hand wash only: the manual forbids the dishwasher because repeated cycles diminish the ceramic coating.
- Heat reports split, with owners describing griddles that take 10 to 20 minutes to cook a grilled cheese.
- A hot spot on the side nearest the thermostat is reported by owners of older Presto units.
- The ceramic coating darkens over time and needs a baking-soda paste to clean.
- At roughly 22 inches wide, the griddle is awkward to wash and will not fit a standard residential sink.

Storage and the tilt function
The 07073 is the 19-inch member of Presto’s folding Tilt-n-Fold family; the 15-inch Tilt-n-Fold is stock no. 07071. The legs fold under the base and the drip tray locks in place, and Presto states the folded unit fits most standard 18-inch cabinets. That storage story is the reason owners cite for choosing it over a larger flat griddle.
The flip-down levers tilt the cooking surface so rendered fat drains into the tray while meat cooks; pushed back, the surface is level for eggs and pancakes. The manual requires the legs to be unfolded before use, and the heat control cannot be inserted while the legs are folded. Presto also suggests a heat-resistant counter protector, such as aluminum foil, under the griddle, kept away from its feet.
Heat and temperature control
The Control Master dial thermostat has a printed scale from 200°F to 400°F, and the indicator light goes off when the selected temperature is reached in about 5 to 10 minutes. The manual’s timetable puts pancakes at 350–400°F and minute steak at 375–400°F. A hands-on blog that used the 07073 reports spot-on temperature accuracy from 200°F to 400°F and a few extra seconds to rebound when fully loaded, but publishes no thermometer readings.
Owner reports for the Presto line are split. On one side, owners describe even heat with no hotspots, a dial they set between 325 and 350 for pancakes, and units still in service after years. On the other, owners report griddles that take 10 to 20 minutes to cook a grilled cheese and get worse with age, a hot spot on the side nearest the thermostat, and a unit that no longer heats properly after being dropped.
Cleaning and care
The manual forbids the dishwasher because repeated cycles diminish the ceramic coating’s nonstick properties. It prohibits non-stick cooking spray, restricts metal utensils, and says not to cut food on the surface; use nylon, plastic, wood or rubber utensils. The cooking surface and handles take a nylon mesh scouring pad with firm pressure, but never steel wool or abrasive cleaners, and a soap-filled steel wool pad is allowed only on the decorative trim.
For the discoloration the coating develops over time, Presto prescribes a baking-soda paste left for several minutes, then scoured with a nylon pad. Do not soak longer than two hours, because soaking can damage the nonstick finish. The griddle must be returned to level and allowed to cool before the drip tray comes out, and the heat control is never immersed. Check the frame screws periodically and retighten with a Phillips screwdriver, but do not over-tighten, which can strip screws or crack the frames. Owners describe the same hands-on constraint: a Presto griddle is not dishwasher safe, and it is long enough to be awkward to wash.
US prices checked 2026-10-20: Presto direct lists stock no. 07073 at $75.99, and a small US retailer lists the same model at $40.99. Owner-reported street prices for the folding-griddle line run about $60 in November 2024, about $50 in August 2024, about $40, $75, and $43.99 as an America’s Test Kitchen price point in August 2025, and about $70 in December 2025, with one owner noting the first unit they bought in 2015–16 cost about $35. The 15-inch sibling 07071 was about $40 at Walmart.
There are no consumables, filters or proprietary refills; running cost is electricity only, and Presto states food may be prepared with little or no oil on the ceramic surface. The realistic recurring cost is replacing the griddle when the coating reaches end of life, and buying a replacement drip tray if one is lost; neither replacement is confirmed as an available Presto part for this stock number. The one-year warranty applies only to units bought from Presto or a Presto authorized seller, and it excludes shipping damage.
Is it worth it?
At the $40.99 third-party listing, the 07073 is cheap for 254 sq in of ceramic-surface folding griddle, and the value case is straightforward if the unit arrives in good condition. At the $75.99 direct Presto price, it matches what owners were already paying on the open market in late 2025 and sits near the Presto 22-inch removable-handle griddle that testers rate higher on heat distribution, so the case at that level rests on the folding storage and the tilt function rather than on measured superiority. Above roughly $85–90, the buyer is in range of larger, currently recommended models, and the tested machine is the better call. Because the warranty applies only through Presto or authorized sellers, the authorized-channel price is the safer one to pay.
