Summary

A 1500-watt electric griddle with about 286 square inches of cooking surface and a removable heat controller that detaches before washing. Its edges run cooler than the centre in one review, the body is hand-wash only, and Presto says not to use it as a warming tray or hot plate.

Strengths

  • 286 square inches of cooking area fits a family breakfast in one batch.
  • A 2.25-inch height needs less vertical storage than taller fold-leg griddles.
  • Removing the heat probe allows the body to be washed in a sink.
  • The ceramic surface releases many foods with little oil when used with nonstick-safe utensils.
  • Presto still lists model-specific parts for the thermostat, drip tray, frames, feet, guides and screws.
  • PartSelect and eReplacementParts also catalog pieces for the 0707202 service model.

Weaknesses

  • One hands-on reviewer found the far edges cooler than the centre, and a Macy’s buyer reported hotspots.
  • Some buyers report warping, with no established frequency or trigger conditions.
  • Nonstick performance can fall off through metal utensils, spray-oil residue and abrasives.
  • The drip tray and some frame parts were listed temporarily unavailable from Presto in October 2026.
  • A 25.25-inch width can be awkward to fit into a small single-bowl sink.
  • The plate is one continuous zone, so two very different temperatures cannot run at once.

Heat and surface behaviour

Presto calls its heavy aluminium plate “virtually warp-proof,” which is not the same as warp-proof. The manual recommends a dry, level, heat-resistant surface, warns against immersion of the control and cord, and says metal utensils can scratch the finish; aerosol cooking sprays can leave tacky residue, and soaking beyond two hours may damage the nonstick. Discoloration over the heating element from grease residue can look like failure without actually being delamination.

Measured uniformity is thin. One editorial reviewer said the centre browned acceptably while the far edges were cooler, and a Macy’s buyer rearranged bacon to even out cooking. No calibrated multi-point map with repeated runs was found, so a temperature setting should be treated as a working point rather than a guaranteed surface reading. Using a food thermometer for doneness remains prudent.

Cleaning and grease management

The griddle is hand-wash only. The body becomes immersible once the probe is removed, but the control, cord and plug must never be immersed. Macy’s metadata labels it dishwasher safe, while Presto’s own instructions say otherwise; the manual’s page controls. Empty and wash the drip tray after cooling, and keep an eye on it during bacon or fatty burger batches. The manufacturer specifies two 75072 guides so the tray slides correctly.

Power and outlet load

Full-rated demand is about 12.5 A on a 120 V circuit. On a 15 A kitchen branch, running the griddle with a toaster, kettle or microwave can trip a breaker depending on wiring and simultaneous load. Presto permits only a properly rated extension cord and warns against underrated cords or power strips. The appliance is not a hot plate or warming tray: although marketing describes the shallow shape as good for buffet service, the manual says it is not intended for heating cookware or acting as a warming tray.

Running cost

There is no subscription, battery or filter. Electricity depends on how long the control cycles on at full 1500 W. As an explicit maximum, 30 minutes at full power is 0.75 kWh, about $0.15 at $0.20 per kWh. One hundred sessions in a year would be 75 kWh, about $15, and two hundred sessions would be 150 kWh, about $30. Actual bills can be lower if the thermostat cycles down, or higher if batches are large. A plug-in watt-hour meter rated for 12.5 A would give more reliable numbers. There was no verified average duty cycle or annual consumption for this exact model.

Parts, repair and cost

Presto’s 0707202 parts list covers the whole frame and accessories.

  • Control Master thermostat and cord, part 06900: $22.99 Presto direct, $33.22 eReplacementParts in stock, $34.01 PartSelect on order.
  • Grease tray, part 86016: $9.50 Presto direct, temporarily unavailable; $12.91 eReplacementParts and $12.22 PartSelect, both on order.
  • Drip tray guide, part 75072: $0.75 each Presto direct, two required; $6.16 and $6.40 from third-party suppliers as special order.
  • Rubber foot insert, part 33197: $1.00 each Presto direct, temporarily unavailable; four per appliance, with third-party special-order prices higher.
  • Left, right and front frame parts: $14.99, $14.99 and $10.50 from Presto direct, plus corresponding third-party special-order pricing.
  • Hex screw, part 24847: $1.99 Presto direct; periodically checking frame screw tightness is recommended.

No genuine consumer-replaceable heating plate or recoating procedure was identified in the public parts list, so finish damage outside warranty is a higher economic risk than a lost tray. Spatulas, sponges and counter protectors are ordinary household items.

Is it worth it?

Presto’s product page lists the 07072 at $84.99. Target matched that price on an in-stock listing with the same UPC, though both Target and Lowe’s copy errors describe “removable handles.” Macy’s showed a $85.39 limited-time sale from a $121.99 list on one category page and $121.99 on the individually indexed page, so verify the cart before purchase. Lowe’s confirmed the model without a consistent readable checkout price.

Alternatives on the same niche:

  • Presto 07062 at $69.99 direct, 22 × 11.5 inches with genuinely removable side handles and 1500 W.
  • Presto 07073 at $75.99 direct, 254 square inches with a tilt surface and foldable legs.
  • Bella EverGood 10 × 20 ceramic griddle with warming tray at $44.98 from Walmart US.

Thresholds for the 07072: very strong at $50 or less if the model and seller are verified; good at $51 to $65 if the 286-square-inch area solves a real cooking or storage need; conditional at $66 to $75 because the 07062 trades about 33 square inches for removable handles; reasonable at $76 to $85 at the official $84.99; pass above $85 unless an authorised seller offers delivery or return advantages.

Support and warranty

Presto states a one-year limited warranty for the original purchaser in the US under normal household use, with repair or replacement at its option and exclusions for misuse, neglect, improper parts, alteration and shipping damage. Service runs through www.gopresto.com/contact with the model and series stamp from under the plug guard, purchase date and issue description. Registering within ten days helps preserve proof of purchase but does not change coverage. A store’s return policy is separate: Macy’s mentions 30 days; Target and Lowe’s terms depend on the seller and channel, so do not assume a uniform 30-day free return.

No quantitative data was found for acceptance rate, turnaround or successful resolution of 07072 claims, so photograph defects, keep the purchase proof and confirm cost before shipping an appliance at personal expense. Do not operate a unit with frayed cord, loose probe or abnormal cycling.

Which model this is

This is stock number 07072, the slimline griddle with removable side handles only in the sibling 07062 and a tilt surface only in 07073. Presto’s parts catalog calls the service model 0707202. It has a 22 × 13 inch ceramic-coated cast-aluminium cooking plate, 1500 W at 120 V, one zone and no detachable side-handle system, despite the handle claim on some retailer pages. UPC 075741070728 belongs to this model. Check the stamp beneath the plug guard on arrival.
