Summary
A low-cost family-size electric griddle with a cooking surface that tilts to drain grease and legs that fold in, so it stores upright in a standard 18-inch cabinet. Check the folding-leg and tilt-lever design before you buy: those parts are the known weak point in this griddle family.
Strengths
- Flip-down tilt levers drain grease into the drip tray instead of tipping the whole griddle.
- Legs fold in and the drip tray locks, so it stores upright in a standard 18-inch cabinet.
- The 184 sq in cast aluminum surface suits small to medium households.
- Fully immersible for cleaning once you pull the heat control off.
- Owners on retailer reviews call it easy to clean and easy to store.
- Low entry price for a griddle with tilt-to-drain and folding legs.
Weaknesses
- The 07071 shares its folding-leg and tilt-lever design with the larger 07073 XL, which draws breakage and lock complaints.
- No independent outlet picked this exact model; the recommended griddles are other Presto sizes.
- Presto sells no replacement parts for the 07071, so an out-of-warranty break likely means a new griddle.
- The 184 sq in surface is smaller than the 07073 XL’s 254 sq in and the 22-inch Slimline.
- The manual warns off cooking sprays, metal utensils and the dishwasher, so the finish needs care.
- The manual bars using it as a warming tray or hot plate, and doing so can void the warranty.

Tilt-to-drain and folding storage
The cooking surface is the selling point. Flip-down levers on each handle tilt it so grease runs into the slide-out drip tray, and the legs fold in afterward. With the tray locked in place, the whole thing stands up in a standard 18-inch cabinet, which is rare at this price. The 184 sq in surface is smaller than a full-size griddle, so it fits small to medium households rather than big-batch cooking.
Folding-leg and tilt-lever durability
No credible instrumented test of the exact 07071 was found from Wirecutter, RTINGS, Tom’s Guide, CNET or PCMag. Wirecutter’s electric griddle guide recommends the larger Presto 07072 Slimline instead, and Food Network’s 20-griddle roundup left the 07071 out of its picks.
The durability signal comes from the sibling 07073 XL, which shares the same Tilt-n-Fold design. In Walmart reviews of the 07073, owners describe folding legs that snap off in under a year, tilt levers that flip down and will not stay locked, and a drip tray that spills onto the counter when the griddle is tilted. One reviewer calls the leg breakage “a recurring theme in this review section.” Because the 07071 uses the same folding-leg and tilt-lever parts, treat those as known risks, though no exact-model failure rate exists. A Reddit r/BuyItForLife thread praises a Presto griddle as a daily appliance for 12 years that still works like new, but the thread never confirms the model, and it also mentions a plastic surround that cracked when the griddle shifted on a drying rack.
Repairs, parts and running costs
Routine ownership is electricity, washing and replacing utensils you wear out. Presto’s parts page for the 07071 lists no parts at all. The 07073 XL lists a heat control, drip tray, hinge plate, handle assemblies, screws, rubber feet, tray guide and washer, but Presto does not confirm those fit the 07071. The manual says to send the griddle to Presto’s Factory Service Department if the legs or cool-touch base crack. With no parts and a one-year warranty, an out-of-warranty break usually means buying a new griddle rather than repairing one.
Is it worth it?
Presto sells the 07071 direct for $52.99 with free shipping, Family Hardware lists it at $49.99, and Lowe’s lists it at $62.04. At $55 or less it is fair value for a secondary or occasional griddle, especially where storage space matters; the tilt-to-drain and fold-in legs are real features at that price. Between $56 and $70 it is merely fair, and above $70 it looks weak next to griddles with better test coverage and parts support. The lack of any professional test of this exact model and the sibling-model durability complaints are tolerable mostly because the price is low.
Which model this is
This page covers the Presto Tilt-n-Fold Family-size Electric Griddle, Stock No. 07071, a 15-inch-class griddle sold in the US. The US Amazon listing is ASIN B07K8ZNNV5. Don’t confuse it with the larger Tilt-n-Fold XL (Stock No. 07073, 254 sq in, 1500 W), the 22-inch Slimline (07072), the 22-inch ceramic griddle with removable handles (07061/07062), or the older Tilt’nDrain BigGriddle (07046); those have different dimensions, wattage and features.
