Summary

Presto 07062 is a 22 × 11.5 inch (about 253 sq in) cast-aluminum electric griddle with a PFAS-free textured ceramic surface, removable handles and 1500 W at 120 V. Check your counter and cabinet first, because the wide plate is the whole point and it will not fit everywhere.

Strengths

  • Independent testing ranked it second of 13 griddles, with best-in-class measured heat distribution.
  • The large 253 sq in surface covers family batches of pancakes or bacon.
  • Removable handles let it store in a standard 18-inch cabinet.
  • The coating holds up: one five-year owner used metal utensils with no loss of nonstick.
  • The whole griddle is immersible once the heat control is removed.
  • Presto sells service parts, including the drip tray for $12.

Weaknesses

  • The textured surface stamps pancakes with a criss-cross pattern and can leave a burned film from scrambled eggs.
  • High heat leaves dark stains the manufacturer treats as normal discoloration.
  • The grease cup can sit loose, slide free and reportedly crack.
  • The removable plastic handles and legs feel flimsy and may break under repeated stress.
  • The manual says not to put it in the dishwasher, despite retailer copy claiming dishwasher safe.
  • At the standard price you are paying for size, not for a smooth, stain-resistant surface.

Heat and the cooking surface

TechGearLab bought the exact unit and scored it 79 out of 100, second of 13 griddles tested, with heat distribution at 8 out of 10 and among the closest measured temperature to the dial setting. Its weakest score was nonstick release at 7 out of 10: the light criss-cross texture stamps pancakes, scrambled eggs can leave a film that burns on, and high-heat cooking leaves stains that are hard or impossible to remove. The manual accepts the discoloration over the element as normal and prescribes a baking-soda paste. Measured cleanup ran about 8 minutes.

Handles, drip tray and durability

The removable handles are the main ergonomic gamble. No failure rate is published, so treat these as known annoyances.

Running costs, parts and warranty

There are no consumables beyond food and cleaning supplies. Presto sells the drip tray (85888) for $12.00, and the manual names other service parts including the Control Master heat control (06900), the handle and leg assembly (85889) and the rubber foot insert (33197). The warranty is one year limited. The manual says never to wash the griddle in a dishwasher because repeated washing dulls the ceramic finish, and to avoid no-stick sprays, metal utensils and cutting on the surface.

Is it worth it?

At the standard $69.99 from Presto direct, Home Depot or Ace, it is a solid pick for the most even-cooking flat surface per dollar, and Home Depot category listings have shown $62.99 and $49.85 on the same model. Above roughly $80 the larger Presto 22-inch Slimline becomes the more rational buy: Wirecutter tested it, it reaches 350 °F in just under five minutes, and it costs about $80 to $85.
