Summary
A 22-inch electric griddle with a textured ceramic nonstick surface, a cast aluminum base and removable handles that let the base drop into an 18-inch cabinet. Check the surface texture before you buy: it absorbs oil over time and browns permanently, even though the nonstick keeps working.
Strengths
- Multiple owners report 5-15 years of regular use with no loss of cooking performance.
- TechGearLab measured 8.0/10 for heat distribution and 9.0/10 for grease management.
- The 253 sq in surface fits a family breakfast: 8 pancakes, 6 strips of bacon and eggs at once.
- Removable handles let the base fit in standard 18-inch cabinets.
- The fully immersible body makes sink cleaning easy once the control is off.
- Replacement parts are cheap and still sold, including a $12 tray and a $22.99 thermostat.
Weaknesses
- The textured ceramic surface absorbs oil into its channels and cooks on brown stains that are hard or impossible to remove.
- The dial runs hot, measured at 365°F on the 325°F setting, and gets imprecise near the top.
- The outer 2 inches run 15-20°F cooler than the center, cutting the effective cooking area to about 16 inches.
- The plastic drip tray is brittle and can crack after temperature swings; one owner cracked theirs in about a year.
- The sheet-metal latch clips that hold the handles can be sharp enough to cut hands.
- Not dishwasher-safe despite some retailer listings, and repeated dishwasher runs diminish the ceramic.

Heat distribution and the dial
TechGearLab’s independent test (December 2025) scored the 07062 79/100 and ranked it second of 13 griddles, with 8.0/10 for heat distribution and 9.0/10 for grease management. They found no major hot or cool spots, and the dial close to measured temperatures.
Small Kitchen Guide (July 2026) pointed an infrared thermometer at it and found the dial runs about 40°F hot, with the outer 2 inches 15-20°F cooler than the center. Other reviewers report the opposite pattern, a center slightly cooler than the edges. Both camps agree there are no major hot spots, so treat the edge-versus-center question as unit or measurement variation rather than a defect.
Long-term durability and owner experience
The owner track record is the 07062’s strongest asset. Multiple owners report 5-15 years of regular use with no loss of function. A Reddit r/BuyItForLife owner reports 12 years of heavy use, and a Home Depot reviewer’s previous Presto griddle lasted at least 15 years before the handles cracked. Those long-life reports span several Presto griddle generations, so read them as platform reliability rather than a promise about this coating.
Outcomes for the ceramic surface itself are more mixed. CNET’s John Carlsen reported about five years of scratch-free use with no loss of nonstick performance, while recent exact-model owners describe food starting to stick around the one-year mark, with residue that is hard to lift from the grooves. The manual itself says the finish can darken over the heating element as grease residue builds up. Cooking temperature, cleaning habits, sprays and production variation all likely play a part; nobody has published a coating-life or failure-rate figure.
Cleaning and maintenance
Wash with soap and water after each use. Do not use steel wool or abrasive cleaners, do not put the heat control in water, and never put the griddle in the dishwasher, because Presto says repeated dishwasher runs slowly diminish the ceramic coating. Use only nylon, plastic, wood or rubber utensils, and do not cut food on the ceramic. Avoid aerosol nonstick sprays, which can make the surface tacky. For cooked-on oil, Presto recommends a baking-soda-and-water paste worked in with a non-scratch pad, and repeated rounds may be needed.
Let the plastic drip tray cool before rinsing; TechGearLab blames large temperature changes for cracking it. The sheet-metal latch clips that hold the handles can be sharp, and one owner cut a hand on them.
Parts, running costs and repairs
Nothing needs replacing on a schedule. The wear parts are the coating, the thermostat, the handles, the feet and the tray, and Presto sells them separately at low prices.
- Control Master heat control (Stock No. 06900): $22.99 (Presto, 2026).
- Drip tray (Stock No. 85888): $12.00 (Presto, 2026).
- Handle/leg assembly (Stock No. 85889): $15.00 each (Presto, 2026).
- Latch clip catch with screw (Stock No. 85873): $2.14 each (Presto, 2026).
- Rubber foot insert (Stock No. 33197): $1.00 each (Presto, 2026).
The ceramic cooking plate and the embedded heating element are not sold as a consumer part, so if the body or the heater is badly damaged, replacing the whole griddle is the practical route.
The only recurring cost is electricity. At the full 1,500 W rating, one hour of cooking a week works out to about 78 kWh a year, or about $14.28 a year at the July 2026 US average of 18.31 cents per kWh. Three hours a week bounds it at about $42.85 a year. Real use should be lower because the Control Master thermostat cycles the element on and off once the griddle is at temperature.
Is it worth it?
Presto lists the 07062 at $69.99 direct, and it is often lower at retail: Home Depot has shown $54.01-$62.99, Walmart $62.99, and Macy’s $69.99 on promotion against a $99.99 regular price. At $65 or less, it is a strong value: a 253 sq in ceramic surface, a cast aluminum base, removable handles and an immersible body.
At $66-75 it is still competitive, but go in knowing about the textured surface’s oil retention and the brittle drip tray. Above $75 it is hard to justify. The larger Presto Tilt’nDrain 07046 is $69.99 direct with a 19 x 15-inch, 285 sq in surface, and the Hamilton Beach Durathon 38522 is $63.99 direct, about $55 at Home Depot, with a dishwasher-safe removable plate but a smaller 200 sq in surface. What the 07062 keeps is size, the long owner track record and the PFAS-free ceramic.
