Summary
A 95A TPU filament for flexible functional parts such as grips, bumpers, feet and strain relief, printed slowly on a direct-drive printer with a dry spool. Check your printer’s feed path before buying: Bowden and multi-material systems need slower speeds, and the 2.85 mm diameter is being discontinued.
Strengths
- Good results for small flexible parts on direct-drive printers with slow speeds and a dry spool.
- Jam-free compounding with fewer feed issues than generic 95A TPU and a cleaner surface finish.
- Stretch of more than three times original length under the manufacturer’s test conditions.
- No enclosure needed; prints on PC or textured PEI at moderate bed temperatures.
- Firm 95A flex suits grips, bumpers, feet, sleeves and strain relief.
- Manufacturer documents a full starting profile, so setup is not guesswork.
Weaknesses
- Stringing is difficult to eliminate; appearance tuning comes after flow and fit.
- Moisture absorption causes rough surfaces, bubbles and weak layer bonds.
- Long or unsupported feed paths increase buckling and feed inconsistency.
- Strong bed adhesion can fuse to smooth or satin PEI.
- TPU95 supports can bond stubbornly; minimize supports in the design.
- Availability varies by color and channel; 2.85 mm is being discontinued.

Print settings and handling
Manufacturer starting points are a 210-230 C nozzle, a 25-60 C bed, 30-50 mm/s per the technical data sheet (20-40 mm/s per the product page and store), part-cooling fan on, no enclosure, and drying at 65-70 C for 8 h when wet. Polymaker strongly recommends direct drive; Bowden paths are possible but need slower speeds, around 6 mm retraction at 60 mm/s versus 3 mm at 40 mm/s for direct drive.
Shore 95A measures indentation resistance, not finished-part stiffness. Wall count, infill, span, ribs and orientation change how the printed part feels, so a 95A filament does not guarantee a 95A part.
Moisture, stringing and feed path
TPU absorbs moisture, which produces rough surfaces, bubbles and weak layer bonds. Dry at 65-70 C for 8 h when symptoms or storage history justify it, and store sealed with desiccant between jobs. Long or unsupported filament paths increase buckling and feed inconsistency, and bed adhesion can be strong enough to fuse to smooth or satin PEI; use a textured sheet or a glue-stick separator on smooth plates. Supports made from TPU95 can bond stubbornly, so designs that avoid supports are preferable.
Evidence and value
No instrumented independent test of exact PolyFlex TPU95 was found from RTINGS, Wirecutter, Tom’s Guide, PCMag or similar outlets. Tom’s Hardware and CNET best-filament guides do not list PolyFlex TPU95 among tested picks. This does not establish recovery, wear or lifespan of a finished part.
Filament Cheat Sheet rates the PolyFlex line Tier A- (4.5), citing independent flexible-filament guides ranking PolyFlex TPU95 as the most consistently recommended 95A TPU versus budget alternatives and jam-free compounding. At roughly $28-40 per kilogram, PolyFlex TPU95 is a premium over generic 95A TPU and is best justified for direct-drive users who value consistent quality and jam-free feeding. For repeat batches, reserve the full quantity first because color and lot continuity are not guaranteed. Skip it for rigid brackets, hard dimensional stops or precise snap fits; PETG, PLA Pro, ASA or nylon is more appropriate. Compare TPU95-HF only as a firmer high-flow alternative and requalify the complete part.
Which model this is
This page covers Polymaker PolyFlex TPU95 (standard), a 95A TPU filament, manufacturer SKU PD01001, sold in 1.75 mm and 2.85 mm diameters with 0.75 kg net weight per spool. Do not merge it with PolyFlex TPU95-HF, which Polymaker’s FAQ places closer to Shore 98A, or with TPU90 or TPU80. The 2.85 mm diameter is being discontinued and may not be restocked; 1.75 mm is the active format for US buyers. The Amazon listing is ASIN B09KKZLZVR.
