Summary
Polymaker PETG Galaxy Blue is a 1.75 mm, 1 kg spool of Polymaker’s current high-speed PETG formula in a dark blue glitter color, aimed at functional parts that need more toughness and heat resistance than PLA. Check your nozzle size and moisture control before buying: the Galaxy glitter is rated only for 0.4 mm or larger nozzles, and the filament is hygroscopic.
Strengths
- High-flow formula: up to 300 mm/s (over 500 mm/s high-flow) with 22-32 mm3/s volumetric flow, no enclosure needed.
- Documented mechanical data: 47.96 MPa tensile, HDT 69 C, density 1.30 g/cm3.
- AMS-compatible spool with hardened edges; no proprietary filament lock-in (standard 1.75 mm).
- Galaxy glitter rated not to clog 0.4 mm or larger nozzles.
- Manufacturer positions the formula under $20 per kg with vivid Galaxy colors.
Weaknesses
- No independent instrumented test of this exact formula or color exists; available data covers older PolyLite PETG.
- Hygroscopic: wet spools string, pop and bond weakly; drying required.
- Bed adhesion can be too strong on bare glass or PEI; needs textured PEI or release agent.
- Not FDA food-safe; heat resistance limited (HDT 69 C).
- Warranty duration not stated in the sources read.

Print settings and speed
Polymaker’s technical data sheet calls for a 240-260 C nozzle, a 60-70 C bed, and 20-60% fan, with retraction of 1-3 mm at 20-40 mm/s. Speed is rated up to 300 mm/s, or over 500 mm/s with a high-flow nozzle, with max volumetric flow of 22 mm3/s (up to 32 mm3/s with a high-flow hotend). No enclosure is needed and the spool is AMS-compatible through hardened spool edges. The headline 300 mm/s is a ceiling, not a guarantee; usable speed depends on hotend melt capacity, line width, layer height, acceleration, and cooling.
Strength, heat and chemical resistance
Manufacturer figures, not independent measurements: density 1.30 g/cm3, Tg 71.24 C, HDT 69 C at 0.45 MPa (65 C at 1.8 MPa), Vicat softening 75 C, tensile 47.96 MPa (X-Y) / 45.71 MPa (Z), impact 4.95 kJ/m2 notched. Polymaker’s blog claims 47% higher impact strength and 14% higher bending strength than traditional PETG. Chemical resistance is good to weak acids, oils and grease; fair to weak alkalis; poor to strong acids and strong alkalis. Not FDA food-safe. Suitable for outdoor use, though prolonged exposure may degrade some properties.
Moisture, stringing and bed adhesion
PETG is hygroscopic; wet spools produce popping, excess stringing, rough surfaces and weak bonding. Dry at 60 C for 6 h if symptoms appear; sealed storage does not reverse absorbed moisture. Keep spools sealed with desiccant; PolyBox or PolyDryer for storage and printing. Bed adhesion can be too strong on bare glass or PEI; use textured PEI or a release agent and cool the part to room temperature before removal. PETG can shatter when dropped.
Galaxy glitter and nozzle wear
Galaxy Blue contains glitter particles; the manufacturer states these will not clog nozzles of 0.4 mm or larger, based on their own large-print testing. That is a manufacturer statement, not an independent clog test. Brass nozzles are adequate for standard PETG; abrasive additives need hardened nozzles, and Galaxy glitter is not listed as abrasive. Clean the nozzle and use a nozzle sock to reduce buildup.
Is it worth it?
Manufacturer positions the formula under $20 per kg worldwide; an aggregator lists Galaxy Blue at $24.99 (snapshot, not a verified checkout price). At $20 per kg or less, the formula offers strong value: 300 mm/s capability, 47.96 MPa tensile, AMS compatibility, no enclosure, and vivid colors. At $21-25 per kg, still good value for a high-flow, low-warp PETG with documented mechanical data. Above $25 per kg, the Galaxy color premium is cosmetic unless the color is required. Budget PETG under about $16 per kg may have inconsistent diameter or moisture issues.
Which model this is
This is a color variant of Polymaker’s current high-speed PETG formula, sold as a 1.75 mm, 1 kg spool under SKU PB05023 (UPC/EAN 6938936717935, RGB #012C61). It is not PolyLite PETG, PolyMax PETG, or other Polymaker PETG-based products, which use different formulas. No separate model or revision numbers are published for individual colors. The Amazon listing for this color is ASIN B0FNDKP2SW.
