Summary
A mid-range bean-to-cup super-automatic espresso machine with the LatteGo milk system. It makes good milk drinks and is easy to use, but its small brew chamber produces weaker shots than many competitors, so it works best if you value convenience over maximum espresso strength.
Strengths
- Easy to use with one-touch drinks and simple controls.
- LatteGo system produces good milk foam and is easy to clean in seconds.
- Quiet operation compared to many super-automatics, based on reviewer measurements.
- Removable brew group and dishwasher-safe parts make routine cleaning straightforward.
- 2-year warranty covers the machine.
Weaknesses
- Small brew chamber limits dose to ~8.4–8.5 g, producing weak shots (measured TDS around 4%) for straight espresso.
- Requires a break-in period of roughly 10–20 coffees before shots stabilize.
- LatteGo produces one style of foam, so it’s not ideal for those wanting very little foam in milk drinks.
- No user profiles, no true touchscreen, and no app-based control.
- Descaling must use Philips descaler; using other descalers can damage the machine and may affect warranty coverage.

Full research notes and sources
Espresso quality and brewing
Measured testing shows the brew group delivers a maximum dose of about 8.4–8.5 g. At the best settings, measured TDS was around 4%, which is weak compared to traditional espresso. Many users need 10–20 initial coffees to dial in the machine.
Milk system
The LatteGo carafe mixes milk and air in a separate chamber, then delivers it to the cup. It creates a foam-heavy texture well suited to cappuccinos and latte macchiatos. It’s also quick to disassemble and rinse. Some users have reported leaks, often traced to incorrect assembly, leftover milk residue, or the transport clip not being removed.
Maintenance and ownership
Routine care includes rinsing the brew group, keeping it lubricated, using the AquaClean filter as directed, and descaling with Philips descaler when prompted. The AquaClean system can extend intervals between descalings under certain conditions. Replacement parts and accessories are available from Philips. The brew group is not intended for aggressive scrubbing with rough cloths.
Is it worth it?
This machine is best for convenience-first buyers moving up from pod machines. It’s a good value when heavily discounted (well under $600). At full retail (~$800–$900), better espresso can be had from several competitors for similar money. If straight espresso strength is your top priority, this machine is not the best fit.
