Summary
OVERTURE Silk PLA Dual Color is a 1 kg spool of 1.75 mm PLA with silk additives that gives a glossy two-tone finish shifting with viewing angle; aimed at display, cosplay, jewelry and home-decor prints. Check your settings before you print: bed adhesion often needs about 70 °C and stringing needs retraction tuning.
Strengths
- Striking two-tone finish that shifts with viewing angle.
- High-gloss silk finish hides layer lines.
- Neat manually inspected winding with larger inner-diameter spool.
- Vacuum-sealed packaging with desiccant.
- Some users report multi-hour prints with no binding issues when settings are dialed in.
Weaknesses
- Stringing: fine wisps; one reviewer called it the stringiest filament they used.
- Bed adhesion tricky on textured PEI; often needs about 70 °C bed and slower first layer.
- Silk additives reduce toughness and interlayer bond versus standard PLA.
- Moisture sensitivity: popping and stringing if left exposed.
- Occasional clogs and heat-creep on some printers, including high-speed machines with AMS.
- Batch diameter variation can cause under-extrusion on some spools.

Finish and layer lines
The dual-color effect is a static two-tone split across the filament cross-section, not a lengthwise gradient, so color outcome depends on model orientation and lighting. The glossy silk finish hides layer lines on display prints.
Print settings and adhesion
Manufacturer specs call for nozzle 200-220 °C, bed 50-60 °C, speed 30-70 mm/s, cooling fan on. Essential Grade found a sweet spot around 215 °C nozzle and 70 °C first-layer bed temperature for the Gold-Silver variant. Textured PEI can be stubborn; slower first layers at or below 20 mm/s help. Drying at 50 °C for 7 hours is recommended before use if the spool was exposed.
Brittleness, moisture and clogs
Silk additives make the material more brittle and more moisture-sensitive than standard PLA. Owners report popping and stringing when spools are left exposed. Clogs and heat-creep show up on some setups, particularly high-speed Bambu Lab machines with AMS; one forum thread attributed jams to swelling in the extruder from heat. Batch diameter variation and out-of-round spools are reported on dual-color silk generally, not Overture specifically.
Running costs, warranty and storage
Filament is a consumable with no repairability concept. Manufacturer direct price for Silk PLA Gradient/Dual variants is about $18.69-19.99/kg; retailer listings about $16.99-19.99/kg. Bulk discounts of 20% at 10 items, 25% at 20, 30% at 50, 35% at 100+ apply via the wholesale page only. The manufacturer offers lifetime 5-star support and a 1-year warranty on most spools; quality issues must be reported within 30 days of delivery. A 2-year warranty figure applies to the Matte PLA line and is not confirmed for Silk PLA Dual Color. Store at 15-25 °C in a sealed container with desiccant and use within 1 year. If moist, dry at 45-50 °C.
Which model this is
This page covers OVERTURE Silk PLA Dual Color, a 1.75 mm silk-finish PLA in two-color variants. Ten combinations are listed: Blue-Silver, Blue-Yellow, Gold-Silver, Green-Blue, Green-Magenta, Green-Silver, Magenta-Gold, Purple-Gold, Red-Gold, Silver-Pink. The researched colorway is Red-Gold. The manufacturer publishes a single TDS for Silk PLA covering the family; no dual-color-specific TDS was found.
ASIN B0BKGNCLFM.
Is it worth it?
At about $17-20/kg it is fairly priced for decorative work; strong value at $17/kg or less for cosplay and display prints. It is poor value for functional or structural parts because of brittleness and lower interlayer bond. Thresholds: $17/kg or less strong value for decorative use; $18-20/kg fair; above $20/kg weak unless a specific colorway is required.
