Summary
A budget 1.75 mm PLA for everyday printing, sold in 1 kg spools with a claimed +/-0.02 mm diameter tolerance and an included magnetic build plate. Check the spool label before you print: the US listing now says “High Speed PLA” while the linked data sheet still gives standard-PLA settings.
Strengths
- Affordable everyday PLA with a published data sheet of mechanical properties.
- Included 200 x 200 mm magnetic build plate adds value in the box.
- Customer service responsiveness reported, including replacement spools for tangles.
- No proprietary spool lock-in; refill spools and adapters are available.
Weaknesses
- Tangled spools reported by multiple owners, sometimes mid-spool, stopping prints.
- Wet filament on arrival reported; popping and stringing improved after drying.
- Batch-to-batch diameter and consistency variation reported by owners.
- Cardboard spools can add friction in dry boxes and automatic feeders; an adapter may be needed.
- Bed adhesion can be sensitive; owners recommend washing the plate with dish soap.

Full research notes and sources
Print quality and settings
The manufacturer publishes a data sheet (version 5.1, July 2024) with density, Vicat softening temperature, melt index, and tensile, bending and impact values, and specifies a 190-220 C nozzle, a 25-60 C bed, and 40-70 mm/s print speed. The product page advertises up to 300 mm/s and a +/-0.02 mm diameter tolerance via CCD monitoring, but the data sheet recommends far lower speeds and the tolerance is a strand-diameter spec, not finished-part accuracy. Color-to-color settings vary; one 2023 test used 205 C on white, 215 C on black and 220 C on green at 50 mm/s. Treat those as illustrations, not presets for every spool.
Tangles, moisture and storage
Owner discussions report tangled spools, wet filament on arrival and under-extrusion that sometimes traces to diameter variation or moisture. Drying at 50 C for 7 h and storing in a sealed container are the standard remediation steps; never dry above 55 C. Moisture sensitivity varies by color and additives. Cardboard spool edges can shed debris in automatic feeders.
Ownership and running costs
Filament is a consumable with no user-serviceable parts and no subscription or proprietary spool lock-in. Ownership costs are electricity for drying, storage containers and desiccant, plus nozzle wear. Overture’s store lists colors from $13.99 to $25.99 a spool; SimplyPrint listed one spool at $22.99 against a $26.99 list price on 2026-10-22. Bulk discounts reach 35% at 100 or more items, applied automatically at checkout and not combinable with other promotions. Quality issues must be reported within 30 days of delivery with order number, batch number, photos and settings. Contact is service@overture3d.com. Warranty covers defects in materials and workmanship for 30 days from receipt, with replacement after confirmation; exclusions include wear, abuse, attempted repair, unauthorized reseller and out-of-period claims. Overture also advertises lifetime 5-star support.
Is it worth it?
At $13.99 to $16.99 on sale colors, strong value for everyday PLA. At $17.99 to $19.99, good value and competitive with other budget brands. At $20.99 to $23.99, fair; compare against alternatives on diameter consistency and support. Above $25.99 for specialty colors, weak to fair unless the specific color or finish is needed. The differentiator is not the +/-0.02 mm claim, which is common marketing, but the combination of low price, broad color range, included build plate and easy availability.
Which model this is
This page covers the standard Overture PLA, 1.75 mm, 1 kg spool, sold by Overture 3D (Overture 3D Technologies LLC, Houston, TX). Do not confuse it with Overture’s separate grades: Easy PLA, Matte PLA, Silk PLA, Rock PLA, PLA Professional, PLA+, Super PLA+, Eco PLA, Air PLA, Turbo PLA, or gradient and glitter variants, which are different formulations with different data sheet values. The standard PLA data sheet is version 5.1, dated July 2024; an SDS is also published. The US listing now calls the standard PLA line “High Speed PLA” while still linking to a standard-PLA data sheet with slower settings, so match settings to the spool label.
The Amazon listing for this filament is ASIN B0DT4NXD27. No single SKU or model number is published in the sources read.
