Summary
Check your feeder before buying: AMS and AMS lite are marked not compatible, Bowden paths are discouraged, and the finished part can feel stiffer than the 95A label suggests.
Strengths
- Competitive unit price: $41.99 for 2 kg is about $21.00/kg, favorable against most single-kilogram high-speed TPU, provided stock returns and both kilograms get used.
- More practical extrusion than slow traditional TPU recipes: engineered for 60–90 mm/s flow with a published high-flow TDS, and one 2024 maker tuned it into detailed prints with very little stringing.
- Impact absorption and elastic return suit flexible guards, cushions, bumpers, gaskets and wear-resistant housings, though tensile data come from a defined specimen, not a finished part.
- Owners with modern direct-drive machines sometimes report excellent results, including on Bambu X1C and P1S with external spool feeding; those reports are not for the exact black 2 kg spool.
- A 2 kg roll simplifies uninterrupted production once a profile is approved and the filament is dried effectively.
Weaknesses
- Stringing and blobs after an apparently adequate dry cycle: one April 2026 owner reported severe strings or poor adhesion despite using a dryer, with commenters suggesting slower speed, top feeding and friction reduction. A single-material-family anecdote, not a measured defect rate.
- Strong adhesion can damage a build surface: a Prusa CORE One owner reported extreme adhesion to a smooth sheet where the same material printed well on a textured Ender, and the maker recommends textured PEI or blue tape with optional PVA glue.
- Unexpected stiffness despite the 95A label: one owner found an OVERTURE piece far stiffer in hand than a Bambu TPU 95A HF print of the same form, and commenters contrasted roughly 15 MPa versus 10 MPa at 100% strain from separate sheets. Shore A is indentation hardness, not bulk bend stiffness.
- Compressible TPU can stretch or buckle in Bowden paths and AMS feeders, a 2 kg spool needs a holder that can carry its mass, and wet material causes bubbling and stringing that drying may not cure; exact spool torque, diameter, and opened-roll lifetime data were not found.
- Reported failures range from first-print adhesion or stringing to mid-print overhang problems, while some owners printed successfully immediately; no batch-based clog rate, tangled-winding fraction or fatigue data were found.
Verified specifications
| Identity | OVERTURE High Speed TPU 95A, Black #000000, 1.75 mm, 2 kg net filament weight; the official store page is a specific 2 kg listing, not a bundle of two 1 kg rolls. |
|---|---|
| Factory TDS (High Speed TPU, v5.1, August 2024): Shore approximately 95A; density 1.19 g/cm³ at 21.5°C; melt index 9.5 g/10 min at 210°C and 1.2 kg. Values are the manufacturer’s tests, not independent certification. | |
| Print starting points (official TDS, 0.4 mm nozzle): 200–240°C nozzle, 25–60°C bed, cooling fan on, nominal 60–90 mm/s, 1–3 mm retraction at 20–40 mm/s, 0.1–0.2 mm raft separation. Recommended surfaces: OVERTURE build surface, textured PEI, or blue tape; PVA glue if needed. | |
| Factory mechanical test prints (0.4 mm nozzle, 225°C hotend, 30 mm/s, 30°C plate, 100% infill, 24 h room-temperature conditioning): 100% tensile modulus 14.9 ± 0.7 MPa (X-Y); tensile strength 27.1 ± 1.2 MPa (X-Y); elongation at break 301.8 ± 12.6% (X-Y). Those test settings are not the headline 60–90 mm/s usage setting. | |
| Speed claim | the maker advertises up to 5× regular TPU while the TDS lists 60–90 mm/s. An independent Bambu-type test measured roughly 8–9 mm³/s at 220°C and settled on 7.2 mm³/s. |
| Drying | official FAQ recommends 70°C for 7 hours and a sealed container with desiccant; the product card says it must be dried before use despite marketing claims of 24-hour factory pre-drying plus vacuum sealing. |
| Feeding | AMS and AMS lite are marked not compatible; Bowden extruders are discouraged; direct drive with an external, low-friction filament path is recommended. |
| Storage | the maker advertises a one-year shelf life for unopened spools stored properly; this is not a one-year buyer defect warranty or a promise of unchanged print quality after opening. |
| Unverified | spool dimensions, tare weight, exact diameter tolerance for the 2 kg black spool, and a dryer-safe core temperature. A marketing image mentions ±0.02 mm diameter accuracy without a batch certificate. A third-party listing claims EAN 0840302812761, part number OVTPU175 and model VID030002, but those are reseller-provided and not verified. |

Print settings and feeder compatibility
Official starting points are 200–240°C nozzle, 25–60°C bed, fan on, nominal 60–90 mm/s, 1–3 mm retraction at 20–40 mm/s and 0.1–0.2 mm raft separation on a 0.4 mm nozzle. The “up to 5×” speed claim sits beside a 60–90 mm/s TDS range, and an independent Bambu-type test measured roughly 8–9 mm³/s at 220°C and settled on 7.2 mm³/s. Treat that as a starting point, not a certified maximum. Feeding is the real gate: AMS and AMS lite are marked not compatible, Bowden extruders are discouraged, and direct drive with an external, low-friction path is recommended. The 2 kg spool also needs a holder that can carry its mass, and no verified spool dimensions or torque data were found.
Moisture and drying
The maker calls High Speed TPU hygroscopic and asks for drying even though it advertises 24-hour factory pre-drying plus vacuum sealing. The FAQ recommends 70°C for 7 hours and sealed storage with desiccant. Prolonged heating can affect the material, so check the spool’s heat tolerance and the dryer’s instructions before using 70°C. Drying may not cure stringing if the root cause is profile or friction, and visible hairs alone cannot diagnose moisture.
Stiffness, adhesion and print quality
Shore 95A is indentation hardness, not bulk bend stiffness. A May 2025 owner found an OVERTURE piece far stiffer in hand than a Bambu TPU 95A HF print of the same airless tennis-ball form, and commenters contrasted roughly 15 MPa versus 10 MPa at 100% strain from separate sheets. If a sole or soft impact absorber must be highly compliant, test the final geometry. Adhesion is another variable: a Prusa CORE One owner saw extreme adhesion to a smooth sheet where the same material printed well on a textured Ender, and the maker recommends textured PEI or blue tape with optional PVA glue. Bridges and steep overhangs at default fast settings were poor for one experienced maker until they slowed to 220°C, calibrated flow to 7.2 mm³/s, used 1 mm retraction and adjusted geometry. Those are one user’s X1C settings, not transferable defaults.
Is it worth it?
At $41.99 for 2 kg, the per-kilogram cost is about $21.00, competitive with single-kilogram high-speed TPU if stock returns and you can use both kilograms in a direct-drive machine with drying discipline. The same item was Sold out on the official store and Unavailable at WoodArtSupply on October 23, 2026. A good buy threshold is $38 or less for a full 2 kg delivered from a reliable source. Above $46, two 1 kg rolls of ELEGOO Rapid TPU at $45.98 offer better quantity flexibility, though it is a distinct formulation. The separately sold 1 kg high-speed line starts at $24.99, which for two rolls is $49.98, above the bulk price. ELEGOO conventional TPU 95A is $17.99/kg. The official store also advertised the 2 kg spool against $64.99.
Which model this is
This page covers the black 2 kg spool of OVERTURE High Speed TPU 95A, 1.75 mm. It is not the manufacturer’s standard-speed TPU 95A and not the 1 kg high-speed version. A third-party listing claims EAN 0840302812761, part number OVTPU175 and model VID030002, but those are reseller-provided and not verified against OVERTURE’s own catalog.
