Summary

A battery-powered kids’ toothbrush with a rotating head, extra-soft bristles and Disney Frozen characters, for children ages 3 and up.

Strengths

  • Extra-soft bristles and a small rotating head suit young children.
  • Runs on 2 AA batteries, so there is nothing to recharge.
  • Disney Frozen characters and the MagicTimer app give it built-in appeal.
  • Oral-B says the app works with any Oral-B kids’ battery or electric brush.
  • Oral-B’s battery-brush manuals describe a waterproof handle and a twist-off battery cap for bathroom use.

Weaknesses

  • No independent test or owner review of this exact battery model was found.
  • Most Oral-B Kids coverage, including Wirecutter and Consumer Reports, tests the rechargeable model, not this one.
  • Battery life per set of AA cells is not published, and other battery kids’ brushes have drained fast.
  • Oral-B no longer lists this model on its US kids’ page, so it may be discontinued or replaced.
  • Warranty terms for the battery model are unconfirmed.
  • No dimensions, weight or materials are published.

What this brush is and is not

This is the battery-powered Oral-B kids’ brush, not the rechargeable one. It runs on 2 AA cells and carries Disney Frozen branding for ages 3 and up. The two brushes share a brand and a look, but almost everything published under “Oral-B Kids” describes the rechargeable version: Wirecutter tested that one and found a thick rubberized handle, two modes and a single charge lasting about a week, and Consumer Reports tested the rechargeable 3+ model as well. None of that transfers to a battery brush. The ManualsLib page for this model holds only a one-page brushing guide, not a full specification sheet.

The Disney MagicTimer app

The app is the main draw Oral-B advertises. The company claims “90% of kids brush longer” with the Disney characters, and it says the app works with any Oral-B battery or electric toothbrush designed for children, with e-sticker rewards. No independent testing of the app experience was found, and whether the app is still supported is unverified.

Batteries, heads and running costs

Battery life per set of AA cells is not listed for this brush. For context on the category, Wirecutter found the battery-powered Spinbrush Smart Clean often lasted less than half its suggested 4-6 weeks, and the Brusheez battery set drained quickly too; that is a warning about cheap battery brushes, not a measurement of this one. Brush heads should be replaced every 3 months or sooner if the bristles fray, per Oral-B. Kids’ replacement Oral-B heads run $6.50 to $9.50 each (Wirecutter). The rechargeable Oral-B Kids brush Wirecutter tested costs about $25 at Walmart and Target, and Oral-B’s own site sells a rechargeable kids’ brush with a sensitive head and timer for $24.99; Consumer Reports lists the rechargeable 3+ model at $30. Wirecutter puts one year of the rechargeable brush at $40 to $53.50, rising to $80 to $129.50 over three years once the heads are counted. There is no defensible price for the battery model itself.

Is it worth it?

There is no published price for this exact battery model, and Oral-B’s current US kids’ line is all rechargeable, which suggests the AA brush is on the way out. If you find it cheap and want a simple battery brush for a 3-year-old, the Disney tie-in and soft bristles are the appeal. If you want app tracking, a timer and a battery that lasts, the rechargeable Oral-B Kids brush that Wirecutter tested is the better-supported buy.
