Summary

The Oral-B iO Series 10 is the flagship of Oral-B’s magnetic iO toothbrush line, pairing a colour handle display and seven brushing modes with the iO Sense smart charging stand that coaches you from the counter without a phone. Before you buy, weigh the battery: it is claimed at two weeks per charge and is not user-replaceable.

Strengths

  • Cleaning is the strongest part of the product: TechGearLab scored it 9.2/10 for cleaning and 9.0/10 for comfort.
  • Consumer Reports ran it through its lab toothbrush program, covering cleaning, ease of use, battery and noise.
  • The iO Sense stand walks you through all 6 sextants in 20-second intervals and shows a clock.
  • The pressure ring gives unmistakable red and green feedback while you brush.
  • It runs quietly; measured 50 dB at 6 feet and 62 dB at 3 inches.
  • Owners report long service, with one iO Series 10 still working about 4 years in.

Weaknesses

  • The claimed battery is 2 weeks, but Electric Teeth measured a maximum of 15 days per charge.
  • Zone and pressure tracking is repeatedly reported inaccurate, sometimes registering the opposite side of the mouth.
  • Only iO brush heads fit, and they cost more than standard Oral-B heads.
  • The battery is internal and not user-replaceable, and service is replacement-only.
  • Owners report “won’t turn off” faults and battery or charging failures across the iO line.
  • The iO Sense stand must stay plugged in, and the handle cannot be set up without the app once.

Cleaning and tracking

Cleaning is the strongest part of the story. Consumer Reports ran the iO Series 10 through its lab toothbrush program, scoring cleaning, ease of use, battery performance and noise, though its numbers sit behind a paywall. TechGearLab scored it 9.2/10 for cleaning and 9.0/10 for comfort, ahead of the Philips Sonicare 4100 and Colgate 360 in the same table.

The tracking the product is sold on is the feature reviewers criticise. Tech Advisor found the six-zone stand slow to keep up and sometimes convinced you were brushing the opposite side of the mouth, and Trusted Reviews found correctly brushed areas failing to register in the app. Tech Advisor also needed several attempts to pair the brush and knocked the weakly magnetised handle off the dock twice.

Battery and charging

The battery is the clearest technical weakness. Oral-B claims 2 weeks per charge for one user brushing twice a day for 2 minutes, which is below the 3-4 week norm for current brushes, and Electric Teeth measured a maximum of 15 days with days disappearing for no clear reason, suspecting the display and motion sensors. The lithium-ion battery recharges in about 3 hours.

Charging faults are a recurring owner theme. In r/oralbtoothbrush an owner went through three Oral-B iO brushes in three months and reports each one developed a charging or battery fault, and a UK owner replaced a first iO 10 that would not turn off only to receive a second with the same fault.

Brush heads and running costs

Only iO brush heads fit, and Oral-B’s US pricing shows a 2-count iO Ultimate Clean at $29.99 and a 6-count at $44.99, with the recommendation to replace heads every 3 months. Electric Teeth quotes roughly $8 per head and notes the iO heads are around 10% deeper than standard Oral-B heads.

The cost argument really centres on the iO Sense stand. Oral-B’s own comparison says the Series 10 and Series 9 share the same 7 modes and differ mainly in charger, zone pacing and noise, and Electric Teeth argues the stand is worth about $40 of the roughly $100 premium over the Series 9.

Warranty and service

The iO Series 10 carries a 2-year warranty from the date of purchase and a 30-day money-back guarantee. Service runs through Oral-B’s online repair service with a dated proof of purchase; in-warranty fixes are handled with a pre-paid mailing label, and out-of-warranty work is done at the owner’s cost after a quote.

Warranty handling is replacement-oriented rather than a refund: the manufacturer page states the service centre may send a like-for-like technical replacement or a higher-spec device, and may not supply the same colour. The battery is internal and not user-replaceable, and no user-serviceable parts are offered.

Which model this is

This page covers the flagship Oral-B iO Series 10, also written iO10, made by Braun/Oral-B (P&G). It comes in two colours, Cosmic Black and Stardust White. Do not confuse it with the iO Series 2 through 9; Oral-B’s own FAQ says the Series 10 and Series 9 share the same 7 modes and differ mainly in the iO Sense charger, zone pacing and noise. The iO Sense stand also works with iO Series 7, 8 and 9 handles, so the charger alone does not identify a Series 10.

The US listing for this model, ASIN B0C2SCXW3G, covers the iO Series 10 handle.
