Battery life and display
The 7400 mAh silicon-carbon battery is the standout feature. PCMag tested 23 hours of use, GSMArena measured 21:36h active use, and CNET’s 3-hour YouTube streaming test dropped the battery to 89%. The Verge called the battery life “unbeatable.” OnePlus claims the battery will retain at least 80% capacity after 4 years.
The 6.83-inch AMOLED display is bright and smooth. GSMArena measured 1204 nits max brightness, and PhoneArena recorded 3507 nits at 20% APL. The 165Hz refresh rate is not LTPO adaptive, and 144/165Hz only works in listed apps; otherwise it caps at 120Hz. Some owners on Reddit report screen flickering during video calls and higher battery usage on WiFi, though it is unclear whether this is a hardware or software issue.
Performance and software
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 delivers strong performance. PhoneArena recorded GeekBench 6 scores of 2604 single-core and 6802 multi-core, and 3DMark Wild Life Extreme 4994. T3 noted “very strong” performance with no jitter in gaming.
OnePlus promises 4 years of OS updates and 6 years of security updates, but counts the out-of-box Android 16 as one of the 4 OS updates, effectively delivering 3 future OS upgrades through Android 19. Samsung and Google offer 7 years.
Cameras
The 50MP main sensor (Sony IMX906, same as the OnePlus 15) produces good daylight results, but the 8MP ultrawide is basic and there is no telephoto lens. GSMArena calls it a “fairly mundane, midrange-grade camera system.” CNET notes the cameras are “more on par with what he’d expect in a $500 phone, not a $700 one.” Tom’s Guide’s shoot-out against the Pixel 9a and iPhone 16e shows similar colors to the Pixel 9a but duller yellows, and at 8x zoom it is sharper than the Pixel 9a but the iPhone 16e retains texture slightly better. The Hasselblad partnership has ended; cameras now use OnePlus’s DetailMax Engine instead.
Charging and connectivity
The US model ships with a 55W SUPERVOOC charger in the box, which is a rarity in 2025. To achieve 80W charging, a separate OnePlus SUPERVOOC 100W Dual Ports GaN Power Adapter Lite must be purchased. USB-PD universal chargers are limited to 18W. There is no wireless charging support at all.
The phone has a USB 2.0 port (not USB 3.x), no mmWave 5G in the US model, and no 3.5mm headphone jack.
Repairs and upkeep
Repairability is above average for a modern smartphone. PBKreviews gave it 8.5/10, praising standard Philips screws (17 total), modular camera modules, and a battery pull pouch for easier removal. The glass back still requires heat to remove, and screen replacement is the most labor-intensive repair. OnePlus offers a 1-year standard warranty in the US.
Is it worth it?
At $699.99, the OnePlus 15R competes with the Google Pixel 9, Samsung Galaxy S25, and iPhone 16e. Its advantages are battery capacity (7400 mAh), charging speed (55W included, 80W optional), and display size (6.83-inch). Its disadvantages are camera versatility (no telephoto), shorter support window (3 future OS updates vs. 7 for Samsung/Google), no mmWave 5G, and no wireless charging. The OnePlus 15 at $899.99 offers meaningfully better cameras (triple 50MP, 50MP periscope telephoto at 3.5x), wireless charging, and faster charging (120W), making the $200 price gap a consideration.
Which model this is
This page covers the OnePlus 15R with 12GB RAM and 256GB storage (UFS 4.1), model CPH2769/CPH2767. The US Amazon variant is ASIN B0FXFR45J7. Colors include Charcoal Black, Mint Breeze, and Electric Violet. Released December 2025. Do not confuse it with the OnePlus 15 (Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, triple camera, 7300 mAh, wireless charging) or the OnePlus 13R (Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, different design).
