Summary

A 6.78-inch Android phone with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, 6,000 mAh battery and a bright 120Hz LTPO screen, sold in the US only as 12GB + 256GB. Check the market before you buy: OnePlus stopped new US phone sales in July 2026, so remaining new units are global imports and used US models are the safer route.

Strengths

  • Battery life is the headline: Tom’s Guide measured 18 hours 49 minutes of continuous cellular web browsing.
  • The 6.78-inch LTPO display runs 1–120Hz and stays readable in sunlight.
  • Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 performance sits close to 2024 flagship phones in tests.
  • 12GB of RAM and 256GB of UFS 4.0 storage come as the only US configuration.
  • The 50MP main and 50MP 2x telephoto make the camera far more useful than the 12R’s macro.
  • 55W charging is quick and the adapter is in the box.

Weaknesses

  • No wireless charging, which is unusual at this price.
  • IP65 protection sits below the IP68 immersion rating common on rivals.
  • The 8MP ultrawide is the weakest camera, with no autofocus and 1080p/30 video.
  • USB-C is USB 2.0, so large wired transfers are slow.
  • Software support trails Samsung and Google, and OnePlus counts the out-of-box Android version as one of its promised years.
  • Owners report battery drain after some OxygenOS 16 builds, though the reports vary by build.

Battery life and charging

Tom’s Guide measured 18 hours 49 minutes of continuous cellular web browsing, beating the OnePlus 12R in the same test. PCMag recorded 25 hours 18 minutes of video playback, and CNET got two full days of real-world use. In Digital Trends’ mixed-use run the phone still had 61% left after about 4 hours of screen-on time with gaming mixed in.

The included 55W SUPERVOOC adapter is fast: CNET saw 60% in 30 minutes, PCMag measured 0–100% in 57 minutes and GSMArena finished in 48 minutes. Without that adapter the phone falls back to 18W USB-PD. There is no wireless charging, so every top-up uses the cable.

Owners have reported two different problems. After some OxygenOS 16 builds, several describe noticeably worse standby and screen-on endurance, while others on stable OxygenOS 16 say battery life stayed the same or improved, so this looks update-dependent rather than a proven defect. One owner reported a new phone stuck at 51% with a “battery not genuine” warning, and OnePlus replaced the device. Nobody has published a failure rate for either.

Cameras

The rear setup pairs a 50MP main sensor with a 50MP 2x telephoto and an 8MP ultrawide. GSMArena found swapping the 12R’s macro camera for a real 50MP 2x telephoto made the 13R much more versatile, and reviewers agree the main camera is the strong one. The telephoto is useful but less detailed than the main sensor; the 8MP ultrawide is clearly the weakest of the three, lacks autofocus and records only up to 1080p/30. CNET flagged overprocessing in low light and oversharpened selfies, and PCMag called the AI editing tools hit-or-miss. The front camera is 16MP with fixed focus, capped at 1080p/30 even though the rear shoots 4K/60.

Software and US support in 2026

The 13R shipped on OxygenOS 15 based on Android 15 and received OxygenOS 16 in North America during 2026. OnePlus advertised 4 years of OS updates and 6 years of security updates, then clarified that it can count the out-of-box Android version as one of those years; independent reporting reads the promise as three future Android upgrades. That is shorter than the 7-year commitments from Samsung and Google.

The bigger change is the market. In July 2026 OnePlus stopped new product rollouts in North America and Europe, saying existing devices will keep receiving software updates, security patches, warranty coverage and repair support. Official US inventory has sold out and Best Buy marks the 13R as no longer available new, which pushes buyers toward used US CPH2647 units or third-party global imports with murkier warranty and band support. US repairs run through OnePlus’ Union City, California service center, with a stated turnaround of about 12–15 workdays.

Is it worth it?

The launch MSRP was $599.99 for the 12GB/256GB model. In October 2026 the picture is different: OnePlus’ own US stock is gone, Best Buy no longer sells it new, used US 256GB units were around $419 on Swappa in September 2026, and a Walmart global-version listing sits near $636.50. Around $400–$450 used is strong value for a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 with a 6,000 mAh battery and 256GB of fast storage; above about $550 it is hard to justify against actively sold rivals.

For context, Google sells the Pixel 10a for about $524 during its October promotion, and Samsung’s Galaxy S25 FE is $649.99 for 128GB or $749.99 for 256GB direct. Those phones are slower, but they come with active US retail, service and longer software support.

Ownership costs are small. There are no consumables or subscriptions, and one full charge a day works out to about 8.61kWh a year, roughly $1.58 at the July 2026 US residential average of 18.31 cents/kWh. The battery is not user-removable and OnePlus does not publish an exact 13R battery or screen price; repairs go through OnePlus service. The US protection page has listed OnePlus Care at $109, Screen Protection at $55, one-year Accidental Damage Protection at $69 and a one-year Extended Warranty at $29, though eligibility should be confirmed after the sales shutdown. The warranty is 12 months.

Which model this is

This page covers the OnePlus 13R in its only US configuration, 12GB + 256GB, North American model CPH2647, FCC ID 2ABZ2-OP23869, sold in Astral Trail and Nebula Noir. It shares the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and 6,000 mAh battery with the OnePlus 13 flagship but has a lower-resolution display, a different camera system and no wireless charging. Don’t confuse it with the OnePlus 13, 12R or 13 Pro. The Amazon listing is ASIN B0DKG1FBSD.
