Summary

A four-spool filament dryer and storage box with two independent heating chambers, dual 200W PTC heaters (360W total) and an 85°C ceiling aimed at engineering filaments like PA, PAHT, PC and PPA-CF. It seals as a dry storage box between cycles, but verify your spool heat resistance before drying at 80–85°C.

Strengths

  • 85°C ceiling handles engineering filaments (PA, PAHT, PC, PPA-CF) that 70°C-class dryers cannot.
  • Two independent chambers let you run different materials or temperatures at once.
  • Active dehumidification with automatic desiccant regeneration, so it doubles as a sealed storage box.
  • Creality publishes energy use (0.124–0.208 kWh at 85°C), which is rare transparency for dryers.
  • 3.2-inch touchscreen and eight filament outlets make multi-printer feeding straightforward.
  • Triple safety protection (fan-speed monitoring, self-resetting PTC fuse, NTC outlet sensor) plus Auto Silent mode.

Weaknesses

  • Footprint and weight (382×290×270mm, 5kg) are large for a desk-side machine.
  • No independent instrumented review exists; the strongest evidence is a Creality-sponsored beta test.
  • The 1–5°C chamber difference can be misread as a fault, and one owner switched to DIY cereal boxes for feeding.
  • No parts catalog or service manual; repair support is limited to cs@creality.com.
  • High-temperature drying can damage heat-sensitive spools if you ignore the temperature warning.
  • No PTFE tube is included for direct-feed printing.

Running costs and repairs

The only recurring cost is electricity: Creality publishes 0.124 kWh for one chamber and 0.208 kWh for both chambers at 85°C for one hour, which is the only consumption data available. The desiccant regenerates automatically with each use and Creality claims no replacement, though the manual warns against removing it or pouring loose desiccant into the chamber. No user-serviceable parts catalog exists and Creality lists no X4-specific warranty document, so long-term parts availability is unverified; out-of-warranty owners can be directed to cs@creality.com for service. Community mods are limited to general feeder tubes, and no exact-model repair guides were found.

Verified performance and owner findings

The only instrumented temperature check on record is a Bambu Lab forum owner who measured 86.2°C in one chamber and 85.5°C in the other at an 85°C setpoint after 20 minutes with a Testo thermometer, close to Creality’s stated tolerance. The Creality-sponsored beta test by The IRON3Dad ran moisture-loaded PLA, PETG, TPU, ASA and PPA-CF through timed and before/after print tests, including a 32-hour PPA-CF cycle, and reported the unit handled everything. No Reddit discussion specific to the X4 model was found.

Is it worth it?

At SainSmart’s $199.00 this is a mid-range dryer whose value case is the 85°C ceiling plus four spools in two independent chambers; an EU owner paid €112.63 and called it a fair price for four spool slots at up to 85°C. Users who only dry PLA, PETG and TPU at 45–60°C can cover the same materials with Creality’s smaller 70°C-class dryers (Space Pi, 1 spool, or Space Pi Plus, 2 spools) for less money and a smaller footprint. The lack of any instrumented independent review and the unresolved manual’s 45–95°C versus 45–85°C figure mean you should treat Creality’s claims as the source of truth and not expect a defect-rate guarantee.

Which model this is

This page covers the Creality SpacePi X4 Filament Dryer Box, ASIN B0F7LTR3N7, sold by Creality, SainSmart and others as “Official Creality Filament Dryer, Space Pi X4”. It is the four-spool, dual-chamber, 85°C model; do not confuse it with the 1-spool Space Pi (45–70°C), the 2-spool Space Pi Plus (45–70°C) or the 4-spool SpacePi X4L (45–75°C, 340W).
