Summary
A 10-quart dual-drawer air fryer with two independent 5-quart baskets, Smart Finish and Match Cook, plus a wired Smart Thermometer for temperature-driven cooking. Check the size of each basket before buying: the combined capacity is not one large cavity, and a whole chicken or whole fish may not fit in a single 5-quart drawer.
Strengths
- RTINGS measured 89.3% crispy, 10.7% undercooked and 0% overcooked in its fries test sample.
- Preheats to 400°F in 1 minute 54 seconds with about 19°F variation at set point.
- Two independent zones let a main and a side finish together via Smart Finish.
- The wired Smart Thermometer stops cooking at a selected doneness for the main protein.
- RTINGS found crisper, more consistent results than the smaller 8-qt DZ801.
- Initial owner feedback is positive but short-term.
Weaknesses
- The combined 10 qt is two narrow 5-qt drawers; a whole chicken or whole fish may not fit.
- RTINGS found 10.7% undercooked fries in its sample; shaking or rotating helps.
- Coating wear is not covered as routine wear, and no DZ950-specific coating life data exists.
- Large footprint: about 16 in wide by the manufacturer, almost 17 in measured.
- Two drawers and two plates to clean after each use.
- No transparent window; checking color means opening a drawer and releasing heat.

Which model this is
This page covers the Ninja DualZone Pro DZ950, the 10-quart two-drawer model with the wired Smart Thermometer. It is not the DZ901, which lacks the probe, or the older DZ550 or DZ401. The black model is the one on the official US page. The UK DZ950UK manual calls a function Max Crisp and specifies 220-240V, so UK modes, wattage and voltage must not be imported into the US specification.
Cooking performance and heat
RTINGS published its DZ950 test on October 2, 2026 and found good crisping, consistent heat and useful total capacity. In its fries test, 89.3% of pieces were crispy, 10.7% undercooked and 0% overcooked. The unit reached 400°F in 1 minute 54 seconds with about 19°F variation at that set point, and recovered in about 2 minutes 3 seconds after food was added. Smart Finish coordinates timings between zones, Match Cook applies matching settings to both drawers, and IQ Boost is Ninja’s description for power distribution when using zones. These are program controls, not guarantees that cooking with both baskets always takes the same time as cooking with one. The probe must be centered in the thickest area; a probe does not guarantee safety if inserted in the wrong place, and verified food-safe temperatures still matter.
Size, fit and cleaning
Manufacturer dimensions are 16.14 in long by 14.17 in wide by 12.6 in high, 18.74 lb. RTINGS measured a test unit at about 16.9 in wide by 14.3 in deep by 12.5 in high. Measured effective cooking volume was 10.1 qt, with 47.3 sq in of usable surface in one drawer and 94.6 sq in total, and a chamber height of about 4.7 in. The two 5-qt drawers are separate, so you cannot remove a central partition and cook a large joint across both zones. RTINGS cautioned that individual drawers are too narrow for a whole chicken or whole fish, and one Walmart owner in August 2026 reported a whole chicken did not fit. Leave about 6 in of airflow space above and around the machine per the related UK guide; US paperwork governs actual placement. Cleaning means two drawers, two plates and the probe. The related-series FAQ allows dishwasher cleaning of baskets and plates but recommends hand washing drawers to extend their life. The main electrical housing must never be immersed.
Running costs and warranty
No mandatory subscription, filter or scheduled consumable. RTINGS measured 1,650 W maximum draw; a hypothetical scenario of 20 minutes per cooking day, five days a week for 52 weeks at continuous maximum gives 143 kWh a year, or $28.60 a year at an assumed $0.20 per kWh. Actual energy is likely lower because heaters cycle. Replacement parts: no DZ950-specific US part numbers or verified prices were found for drawers, crisper plates or the probe. The probe comparison part 103JN550 is $22.99 and explicitly compatible with DZ550 and DZ550C, not listed for DZ950; confirm compatibility with Ninja before ordering. SharkNinja’s DZ950 page states a one-year limited warranty for the original owner under normal household use; worn baskets and plates, commercial use, abuse and unauthorized repairs are not covered. A possible replacement shipping fee is not verified for DZ950; one unrelated March 2026 BBB complaint described an $11.07 shipping fee. The manufacturer shop offers a 60-day return policy for direct purchases, subject to order terms and listed exclusions.
SharkNinja US direct listed DZ950 at $149.99 on October 30, 2026, down from a displayed $269.99, with free shipping on orders over $99 subject to destination exclusions. Walmart.com listed $229.99 for a listing naming DZ950; its page title says 4-in-1 while the manufacturer lists six functions and a probe, so confirm UPC, probe and programs before treating offers as equivalent. Best Buy showed $269.99 on the accessible exact-model page; third-party sale reporting put it at $149.99 during October, but snapshots diverged, so check the final cart. DZ801 8-qt was $129.99 on Ninja’s US sale page in October 2026. DZ901 10-qt variants ranged $149.99 to $249.99 depending on color or offer. DoubleStack XL SL401 was about $209.99 on sale in October 2026. Editorial thresholds: $130 or less new from an authorized retailer is excellent value; $131 to $160 is a very good buy; $161 to $200 requires an exceptional local availability or return advantage; over $200 is hard to justify while the same model is $149.99 direct. At $230 or more, consider the DoubleStack XL SL401 only if vertical space is the priority.
