Problems, parts and running costs

Summary

A USB bus-powered 4K webcam with a 1/2.5-inch Sony sensor, phase-detection autofocus, a three-color-temperature ring light, two noise-reduction microphones and a physical privacy shutter, for a Windows or Mac desk. Check the capture mode before you buy: 4K runs at 30 fps, 1080p at 60 fps, and the 4x digital zoom works only at 1080p/30 fps.

Strengths

  • 4K30 or 1080p60, PDAF autofocus, an integrated ring light, a shutter and two mics in one compact unit.
  • PDAF may hold focus when switching from a face to a handheld object during demos.
  • Editorial reviewers describe the image as sharp with adequate existing light.
  • The ring light’s rotary brightness and three tones work as a fallback in dim rooms.
  • NexiGo publishes an exact-model support page covering frame-rate trade-offs and firmware caution.

Weaknesses

  • 4K, 60 fps and 4x zoom cannot be combined; zoom works only at 1080p/30 fps.
  • Conferencing apps, bandwidth and host processing can keep output below 4K even when the camera supports it.
  • The ring light sits near the lens, so glasses glare and flat facial lighting are common complaints.
  • Built-in mics are convenient but not proven against a headset in a noisy room.
  • No Windows Hello IR face login is listed; the shutter is only a physical lens block.
  • Exact-model owner failure data and warranty turnaround reports were not found.

Resolution, zoom and app limits

4K at 30 fps and 1080p at 60 fps are separate capture modes, and the 4x zoom works only at 1080p/30 fps. Test full 4K in local capture software before diagnosing the camera as faulty, and check what resolution each conferencing app actually negotiates.

Lighting and audio

The ring light offers three selectable color temperatures and stepless brightness, but precise color temperatures, measured luminance at a face distance and power draw were not found. Selectrogear cautions that near-lens lighting can reflect strongly in glasses and flatten facial illumination, and may cause eye discomfort in long calls; this is a subjective editorial assessment, not a verified defect incidence or measured photometric result. Lower the brightness or place a separate light to the side if glare shows up. The two noise-reduction microphones are convenient, but no model-specific controlled speech test against a headset in a noisy room was found.

Reliability and support

No model-specific confirmed repeated hardware faults or repair-rate statistics were found; the exact-model public sources had too few independently verifiable owner follow-ups to establish what fails or after how many months. Do not transfer failure claims from other NexiGo webcams to this model. NexiGo advises not updating firmware unless an issue exists and recommends contacting support first; no specific N680E Pro firmware bug, affected version range, confirmed brick rate or recall was verified. Support outcomes for exact-model warranty claims were not found; NexiGo’s policy describes replacement with serviceable, refurbished or equivalent parts, and the warranty on a replacement generally does not restart.

B&H lists the N680E Pro at $99.99, marks it in stock with free two-day shipping, identifies itself as an authorized NexiGo dealer and includes a one-year manufacturer warranty. NexiGo’s own listing shows $99.99 but out of stock, and a collection page shows $79.99 also out of stock. A fall 2026 promotion page lists $79.99 instead of $99.99. SHI shows $77.00 on backorder with zero stock. Newegg’s third-party bundle with a mini tripod is $248.98 and is a different bundle, not comparable to the single camera. EMEET’s S600L is $79.99 at Best Buy with a 1/2-inch sensor, and the S600 without light is $69.99. Value thresholds: at or below $70 new from a legitimate seller is attractive; $71 to $85 is good if actually in stock and backed by warranty; $86 to $100 is the current available brand or dealer price but should be compared with the EMEET S600L; above $100 for the standard camera is poor value while B&H sells it for $99.99.

Running costs

  • Required subscription: $0 per year; basic operation and the Webcam Settings download do not describe a recurring fee.
  • Electricity: no independently measured wattage or annual electrical cost was found for this model.
  • Warranty and repairs: NexiGo makes buyers responsible for shipping in some cases, including claims on orders delivered more than 90 days earlier; no exact per-claim shipping amount was confirmed.
  • Consumables: none mandatory; the camera is sealed USB with no cartridges, filters or user-swappable battery specified.
  • Parts: the USB cable is required to operate the bus-powered camera, but no OEM cable SKU, length or standalone price was found; contact cs@nexigo.com for a replacement. The privacy shutter, ring-light LEDs and monitor clip are integrated; no spare SKUs, costs or DIY repair steps were found.

Which model this is

This page covers the NexiGo N680E Pro (UPC 766214650096), a USB-powered 4K webcam with a 1/2.5-inch Sony CMOS sensor, PDAF autofocus, a three-color-temperature ring light, two noise-reduction microphones, a built-in privacy shutter and monitor or tripod mounting. It is not the older N680E, which is limited to 1080p30, and it is not the N930E Pro.
