Nespresso Vertuo Next Deluxe by De'Longhi (ENV120C): problems, parts and running costs

Checked: 2026-10-08

Summary

The Vertuo Next Deluxe is a slim one-button capsule machine that brews espresso through an 18 oz carafe, but its weak point is reliability: owners report leaking from the base, brew head and capsule compartment, and red or orange error lights that stop brewing. Running cost is dominated by Vertuo capsules at roughly $1 to $1.50 each, about $30 to $45 a month at one cup a day, with a separate frother needed for milk drinks. It is a reasonable buy at the $136.49 Nespresso US price; near $180 to $210, the leak complaints and the one-year warranty make it a poor value.

Parts and consumables

Yearly running cost

Vertuo capsules dominate. Tom’s Guide cited pods from about $0.98 per espresso capsule, and Boomset put standard pods at about $1 to $1.50 each, or about $30 to $45 a month at one cup a day. There is no third-party Vertuo capsule that fits, so this cost cannot be avoided. A separate milk frother is an extra cost for milk drinks. No verified annual electricity cost exists for this model.

When it is a good buy

Nespresso US listed the Deluxe Chrome at $136.49 (October 2026 check); De’Longhi US listed the same machine at $209 and Breville listed its BNV540 equivalent at $209.95. At about $135 or less it is a reasonable convenience buy for one-button coffee in a narrow footprint. From $180 to $210, compare the more reliable Vertuo Plus, which has a larger 40 oz tank and a motorized head. Boomset’s 2026 synthesis typically saw $150 to $220.
