Mesliese VS6601S Silver: problems, parts and running costs

Checked: 2026-10-21

Summary

The VS6601S is an edge sealer, so the failure owners actually report is liquid: in a July 2024 r/sousvide post, a Mesliese owner pulled marinade into the machine on the second use and the unit then drew air but would not heat-seal. [3] Film is the only meaningful running cost, roughly $58.31 of roll stock a year at 100 portions, while electricity is about $0.02 a year. [2][15] It is worth buying under $75 delivered; from $96 to $115 the Anova Precision Vacuum Sealer Pro at $114 is the better purchase. [20][21]

Parts and consumables

Yearly running cost

Film dominates. At the Mesliese three-roll pack of $27.99 for 48 linear feet, one 12-inch bag cut from 8-inch film costs about $0.583 of material, so 100 portions a year consume roughly $58.31 of roll stock; buying whole packages means three packs at $83.97 to cover those 100 bags with about 44 linear feet left over, and waste, tax and shipping push it higher. Electricity is negligible: 120W at the nameplate for 30 seconds of full input across 100 cycles a year comes to 0.10 kWh, or $0.02 a year at an assumed $0.20 per kWh, and real draw is lower for parts of every cycle. Add $19.98 once if both gaskets ever need changing, which cannot be turned into a yearly figure because no useful life has been measured. No subscription is involved. [2][7][8][15]

When it is a good buy

Mesliese’s own store listed the VS6601S Silver at $129.99 and in stock on October 21, 2026, while a Newegg marketplace listing from third-party seller RunRich Garden asked $111.99 with free shipping and 30-day returns, though that listing shows a UPC that conflicts with the manufacturer’s and carries no customer reviews of its own. [19] The thresholds: under $75 delivered is good value if the unit is genuinely U.S.-compatible and documented, $75 to $95 is reasonable for occasional freezer prep, $96 to $115 is where the Anova Precision Vacuum Sealer Pro at $114 direct takes over, and above $115 the money goes further on the Anova or the NESCO.
